Default Can you have it all?

So here's the thing. I have a scx10 honcho basically stock. I wanted more speed so I put a 22 tooth gear on it. Obviously lost my torque. So I ordered a 35t motor paired with a 24 tooth gear, odd but I lost top end and still don't really have all that much torque. So my first question is how did I go so wrong? My second question is in a brushed setup how do I obtain it all, torque and speed?

Definitely start with a 3s setup. Then depending on what kind of speed you're looking for you can get a better idea of what turn motor.

I have the best of both worlds. Running the rc4wd 2 speed tranny with a 35t Tekin motor and 3s. Crazy torque (5:1)in first gear and crazy speed (1:1.75) in second. I can wheelie while starting off slow and of course from a stand still. My thoughts were: I'd like to get some scale wheel spin when I wanted "power"! and crawl when I wanted.

This is a video before I put in the 2 speed tranny, so just 3s lipo and the 35t tekin motor. Really nice wheel speed and crawls great. Obviously the camera setup prevented me from crawling some steeper things but when the camera isnt there it's a crawling beast!

Castle SV3, Integy 35t, 3s and stock gearing. Best of both worlds!

It can if you use a BEC. I've been using my AE-2 with 3S for along time with no issues as well as a lot of friends.

I would still like to hear more so keep it coming, but I think the first thing is to go 2s lipo. I know some of you suggested 3s but I think I want to play it safe until I upgrade my esc. Quick question, on the 2s battery what mah should I get?

3s or gtfo the trail. "Volt up, gear down."

There is no safe. Get a bec and go 3s.

I tried to play it safe.. now I have two 2s batteries I paid retail for and am too bitter to sell for what they're actually worth.

Get a 3000-4400mah 3s and a castle bec. If you've been used to nimh stick packs you'll need an extra pair of drawers and a tissue. Take it from another noob who's just been there.

What is the issue with 2S? I am running a 2S 5100mah saddle pack on my Honcho with stock electronics and haven't had any issues. Do I need to be worried about something? I'm still fairly new to this, and switched from a 3000 nimh about three weeks ago.

2s just doesn't have enough go for most guys, especially as people's trucks start to get heavier.

The boys speak from experience! 3s is legit! I almost never grab my 2s anymore because I like to grab some trigger an throw up some dirt once and a while, (which is totally scale for me!) and you can go stupid fast if you're so inclined. Gear it way down and you'll have crazy torque.

Go brushless with a 4-pole motor if you want it all. Tons of torque, great wheelspeed and very efficient for long runtime. Waterproof the motor with some CorrosionX or Rustoleum NeverWet and have fun.
