| -SCX10: Large Shock Relocation for Trail Finder 2 Body (Pic Heavy!)- Hi! TacoCrawlerJr. here! Did you know Oxy-Clean is the leading cause of- what? Oh, right... RC stuff. Got it. Let's do it! I've recently acquired a Mojave Trail Finder 2 Body Kit and am currently trying to secure it to a Axial SCX10 RTR Honcho. But before I could even think about mounting it, I was interrupted by the stock shock towers invading my dropped bed space. Placing the body on the bare towers As I stared at the ridiculous ride height or the hideous deformity of cutting through the precious injection-molded bed, I ran a search for the solution. It was this: http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/chassis-suspension/386299-gear-head-rc-scx10-rear-shock-relocation-kit.html However, I was running the stock Traxxas T-Max shocks my father gave me, and was too short on funds to buy Gear Head RC's recommended shocks; as well as the kit. I glared at my large-bore shocks, fearing it wouldn't fit, and set out to improvise with what I had. So, I bought a couple Aluminum L-Brackets and some 3mm Screws, borrowed my dad's tools, and got to work. Materials I used: 1 - 1/8" x 3/4" x 2' Aluminum Bracket ------------------ $6.77 1 - 1/16 "x 1/2" x 2' Aluminum Bracket -----------------$2.03 4 - 3mm x 15mm Button Hex Screws -------------------$2.49 6 - 3mm x 8mm Socket Head Screws ------------------$1.99 10 - 3mm Nylon Lock Nuts ----------------------------------$1.99 6 - Various Spacers found in my Honcho kit ------------Free _______________________________________________ Total -------------------------------------------------------$15.27 + Tax I started with cutting and drilling the Aluminum L-Brackets: Next, I drilled through the rear frame support and mounted the upper bracket. Then I assembled my the lower shock brackets, before mounting them onto the axle. Before: After: Result: Reduced Shock Height and Improved Articulation Thanks for taking a look! You're Awesome. For now... |
