Water cant get thru balloons. Its not pretty but works great and can be taken off anytime.

i wound`nt pout a balloon anywere near my esc as it cant get any air around it and the air in the balloon will just get hotter the more you run it

I intend to Plasti-dip mine. Even in this heat it never gets very hot on 2s even after a 5hr trail/crawl. If you are gonna get it wet to then that will cool it down. Hehe...

how much air flow you really think is getting to a crawlers esc? Many people plasi-dip just like my esc is and they still dont get hot.

it has for me, my trucks like to play in the mud and water. the oldest is 3.5 yrs. and the newest is 1 year old and I have never lost any electronics due to water. all my FXR's are covered with balloons and liquid electrical tape and have yet to over heat. all my servos get dielectric grease and never fried one either. plasti dip is just a sloppy mess to work with, wont ever use that again.

but in the end its still up to you on what to use.
good luck on whatever route you take.

i have only used the dip and it works great. Fills larger holes then the spray does.

People have said they need airflow but as crazy and crude as this looks this is what my Mamba Max Pro ESC was encased in and never got to hot or shut down even with a Tekin Pro4 3300KV on the other end. That was back then and now I will try Corrosion X but just thought I'd post this pic up.

if you use plasti dip you still have airflow over the fins dont you.

if you balloon it then you have no air flow so the heat inside stay`s inside and just gets hotter the more you use it doesnt it or is there a secret window or something that let`s the air out

A guy I met up with had his stock ESC in a baloon and it started to burn up (we could smell plastic burning)

He's going to be plasti-dipping.

I did mine in the dip and while ihavn't run through water yet, i do not smell burning and the fins are still exposed to the open air for cooling

Bro your not hearing me. There is pretty much no air flow under the body on a crawler and if your ESC is getting hot at all you got problems. We arent talking about a E-Revo running on 6s, this is a crawler. Balloon up and move on, or plasti-dip and leave it like that. This is real easy guys and your over thinking it

iam hearing you and i have plenty of air flow under my body and my esc is in the radio box as i have my rx in a balloon and my esc never gets hot even after been plasti-dipped. so your saying if i put my esc in a balloon its way batter than just putting it under the body after being plasti dipped.

now how`s does that make sense i dont understand as there is still no air flow for the esc so its going to heat up more than it would than being just under the body with air all round it

Read what I wrote again. Never did I say the balloon is better. Your ESC is in a box you think its geatting air flow? Air touching it is not air flow

Conformal coating makes the most sense to me. I'll keep my balloons for birthday parties.

Please forgive my ignorance on the subject. It sounds to me like Corrosion X or conformal coating and liquid tape is the way to go? I guess I'll just have to get over the fear of opening up my electronics!

the only "opening" you have to do is removing the plastic case from the ESC then dip it.
I dipped the entire receiver also with the servo and esc connected so it's sealed as well

Conformal coating is the only one of those three that was designed for waterproofing circuit boards.
