| Re: 79scx10's extended cab 79 ford build Thanks! I always wanted to do a f250/f350 but I decided to do a extended cab 79 ford instead, it was a hard decision between your f250 bolt on truggy chassis and the extended cab

I've got a few questions, for the people with a extended cab 79 ford what drive shafts are you running and did you guys make your own links? Thanks |

I pieced a couple of stock driveline's together for the rear. I'll try to get you some pics tonight. I think you might be able to get a long enough steel one from RC4WD.

I heard that they use wraith driveshafts, I don't know what to use. I'm hoping somebody will tell me what to use

Some parts came in the mail I know I'm not to the point where I need the wheels but I just couldn't pass up the deal, plus I can run them on my other 79 ford. I'm not to pleased with the axial tredpador tires that are on it. Last edited by 79SCX10; 09-03-2013 at 08:37 PM. |

This is great! I'm currently working on a Ford bodied scx "Mud truck". For the rear driveshaft, I used two female shafts with a male shaft in the middle, with one end glued in. My front is not as extended, and I'm using an extra CKRC driveshaft that I had used on my Wraith. Since the front is only extended a little, I used an aluminum spacer and some threaded rod to extend the four links. The rear links are made from 8-32 all thread, 1/4 inch brake line, and long Traxxas Revo rod ends made by RPM. I'm running 2.2 Eight-Shooter beadlocks and RC4WD Rock Crushers. I also swapped out the shocks with internal springed EMaxx shocks drooped. Keep up the good work! Getting there. Haven't changed out the rear stuff yet. Gonna work on that in a little bit. (Soon as wifey is tucked into bed) Only extended the front a little bit.... |

The thing that is giving me the most fits is the body mounts. This body is for a Savage XL and is pretty big. The stockers just aren't up to task. Plus, the front mounts would go through the windshield if I put them where they are intended to go. Keep up the good work! I wanna see how yours turns out!
