Default Wider Axles for SCX10

I'm sure this has been covered, but I've done a lot of searching and reading and haven;t found what I'm looking for...

I want my scx10 Rubicon to have a wider stance for hopefully greater stability and less tipping. I'm also taking measure to lower COG and add some weight.

The solutions I've seen so far

- Vanuish OMF wheels and wide hubs - very cool but way expensive
- gMade 15mm wideners - would need to drill out my wheels and the couldn't use stock hub covers
- integy wider axle kit - heard they were junk

What are other options? I need to research more but may adapt wraith axles? Thinking of trying to fab my own setup using the GMade parts as a starting point. Any other ideas? Trying to not spend a ton on this mod but want something sturdy and looks decent.

Thanks in advance for any pointers and sorry if I just couldn't find the magic thread!

I think the cheapest route is the GMade wideners.
They work great for what they are.

Wraith axles are a good solution.
or
There's also the scx - xr10 mod which will be in between Wraith and SCX10 axles... but it'll cost ya.
or
SCX10 axles with longer Beef Tubes. You'll need to be able to drill/tap your own holes... I think.

A full wrap of lead tire weights on each wheel will add to traction and overall stability. Keeping the suspension and heavier components as low as possible helps greatly. I personally run the battery pack crossways on the chassis between the trans and front shock hoops to get that weight lower also. Hope this was helpful .

^x2 on try to lower COG as much as possible and add weight down low before going all out and swapping axles or expensive mods. just weighting wheels, steel beef tubes, and weight distribution helped my rig a ton. also, widening the axles is going to take away from "scaleness" if it even matters to you.

Thanks folks - def working on the COG - have added some wheel weights but haven't had a chance to run with them yet. Have also considered lowering the battery - it's already up front but will try dropping it lower. Yeah - not going for anything expensive just yet - might try the gmades, but again hate to drill my wheels. As far as "scaleness" - I don't mind sacrificing a bit for performance - not competing or anything - just goofin' around with the kids! That said, I don't want anything too wacky looking or I'd go to another platform (and probably WILL check some other out when my wallet permits)

Thanks again!

StEvo - what wheels are you running? Did you need to mod them? I've got Axial 1.9 beadlocks... Thanks!

Don't Axial wheels have larger hub holes to accommodate that 2 tier hex hub?

Anyway, if you do have to drill out the hub to fit the barrel nut, it won't be too much.
You could still run them on the regular hub in a pinch.

I run them on my 1.9 Mini and my foff truck.

The narrow XR10 mod will add about 1/2" of width to the front axle.
How to do the narrow XR10 mod to Axial axles

Using wide beef tubes you could do the full width AXR10 mod and that will give you about 1.25" more width.

Mayhem Engineering do some nice wheels n wide hubs. Much cheaper than VP. I had the 1.9 Slamerz with .650 hubs. They widened the stance and did not need weighting at all. Made it a very stable rig.
