Axial Jeep Wrangler G6 - Renegade

A little about what I have planned for the new Axial Jeep Wrangler G6 kit. If you have seen my builds before you know I like the factory looking stuff for the most part. With this dovetailed newer body style rig, I want to go Retro. Bringing a mix of the Golden Eagle and Renegade jeep back.
Overdrive gear up front, of course metal gears in tranny. Still up in the air about running a dig unit or not. Wanting to go Brushless. So watch for motor ESC combo. Will be running Mayhem Engineering Wheels. Trying a new set up on the steering I have never run before, but it seems to work. Stay tuned for the ride and we will see how it all turns out. "thumbsup"

I am looking forward to painting it too.! I went with the locked transmission to eliminate the slipper clutch. The kit comes with a standard transmission with the slipper clutch, and I will me doing AX30708 metal gear set in the trans.

For those of you who dont know about beef tubes, here is a simple run down. I like them because they keep your weight down low, where you need it most. They also make plastic axle housings stronger. Inexpensive alternative to aluminum axles. However they do not just drop right in. You have to clearance the inside of plastic housing.

Axial aluminum C hubs, knuckles and also using CVD's. They work for my driving style and I really need them for steering set up. If you look at pics you will see. YES I know knuckles are on backwards. Its because I am running and Austrian steering tuning kit. Its kind of like BTA, but not quite. Check it out.. I learned about this set up from Austrian Danile Siegl.

These are PLE Engineering or Sumquak here on RcC. These work with the stock axles. I used CVD's because of the steering set up I used. Beef tubes work with a bone stock set up. Nothing needed, except to clearance the inside of plastic housings. Hope this helps.

Interesting steering link. Never seen one setup like that before.

Hi,

The steering setup is from an Austrian Company called "Trial and Fun".

You might need to shave of the "leave" mounts a little bit if you run the adjustable C-Hubs.

Cheers
Daniel

You don't need to buy the "AX10 locked Transmission set AX30487" if you don't want to run the slipper clutch and would rather lock out the spur gear on your G6 kit. The G6 kit comes with the spur gear lockout (on parts tree AX80009) as well as the slipper clutch, the manual only shows the slipper installation I'm guessing for noobs who should probably stick with the slipper clutch and not lock it out.

You could have just bought the AX80009 parts tree if you wanted an extra spur gear lockout, no need to waste even more money on a complete locked out tranny.

You are absolutely right Badger, I should have stated that, my bad. Being on the G crew for Recon G6 if I am going to have to get a part I tend to get what I can as a whole so I have spare parts. Thanks for pointing it out, info on these kits are what people are looking for. I am still in the get to painting stage mode, the part I like most. lol
