Default SCX10 owners opinion on the Gelande II

I am going to buy either the kit version SCX10 JK or the new RC4WD Gelande II. I have owned the kit version Honcho in the past and really liked it. Just want to see if anyone out there owns the Gelande II and an SCX10 and can give me a little comparison between the two.
Either way, I'm not looking for all out performance. Just want a cool scale truck to trail run and rock crawl with.

Second question, what is the biggest tire you can fit on the Gelande II?

Well if your looking for a very scale truck the G2 is where it's at, I don't own one but have seen them run. I have a few scx10s and a tf2 and I love my scx but the tf2 does awesome to

fbuonpensiero I will try to answer this as best I can for you since I have both scx10s and a G2.I run my trucks at a state park with many different types of terrain(creeks, walking trails and off the beaten path in the woods).I find both vehicles very equal crossing the creeks and on the trails(basicly they are all stock and all have holmes esc and 35t motors) the G2 does have slightly taller tires in trailbusters.the big difference I see is off the beaten path in the woods where you are basicly making your own trail as you go,this is where the G2 just cant go where the scx10s can.hope this helps and good luck which ever way you go.

I would say if your going for the super realistic scale look I would do the G2. The SCX10 is alot of fun but it doesn't have the scale appearance right off the bat like the G2 does. That is just my 0.2 though. The SCX10 handles really well right out of the box though and I feel has way more parts to back it. The G2 isn't far behind though.

EDIT: About the tire size, personally 1.9 would be the biggest I would go. You might be able to run a 2.2 but they just over do it for me.

Thanks for the replies.
Biggest wheel size I would use is 1.9, just wondering if I would run into trimming if I ran a Pit Bull or Proline tire on the G2.

Why not a G2 body on the SCX10 platform, best of both worlds?

I mounted the Gelande II D90 shell to my scx10. THe two things you have to do are the wheelbase (new links, I just did the rear) and then physically mounting the body to the scx frame. I found that to be the hardest part.

Now I've got the capabilities of the scx10 and (some) of the looks of the D90. You may want to go that direction.

I am currently undergoing the same dilemma. I was also wondering how big of a 1.9 would fit?

Here's my scx10 on RC4WD Rok Lox. These are the largest off the shelf 1.9 I have tried on it, they're 4.54". You can see I had to do a bit of chopping to get them to clear the body.

Not sure what people mean by the scx10 isn't as scale. The scx10 itself is just as scale as any other trail truck. The only difference between the two scale wise is the body. The G2 is a nice kit but you will never be able to make it out perform a scx10.
