Default Project turd sandwich scx10 build

I traded for an scx10. It is In Bad shape. I am going to see if I can get it back on track.

This pic it looks...ok. But it is a mess
I noticed it had aluminum c hubs and knuckles. It also has aluminum lower links and axial rear lock outs.

So I started tear down... Ugly. The trans does have the robinson racing solid diff/ out drives. But one of the 8x16x5 bearings is completely gone in which the idler gear is toast.

It has...1 mip drive shaft ...for an ax10. I already ordered mip shafts and transmission gears
Once I actually started tearing it apart look at all the different screws

4/40 3mm machine thread self tappers about to puke... Luckily I have a lot of 3mm machine hardware it doesn't all match head wise. I'll order a Harley screw kit.

A lot of simple green and the axels look a little better

Oh and no servo mount.... :/ so I ordered one of those as well.
This is where she is at two hours in. A trip to the hobby store and an eBay order and I'll have her on the ground ready.

Also I noticed in the front where the upper links mount the Y the little captured ball is extremely loose so the whole from axle can move freely

yup, its a weak design, I upgraded mine to a CMS panhard setup with a single upper link. got the kit from rc4wd for less than a VP setup. Had to slightly modify the left front bumper mount, but its fine.

sounds like its in as bad of shape as my used wraith chassis, trans and diffs i got to make a 1.9 wraith..what a disaster! lol

Well I got my mip drive shafts and after further inspection the trans was missing two bearings. Great only grabbed one at the lhs. Luckily I had one spare. The front hub bearing was trashed as well so doner hpi is helping.

Got a set of 2.2 boggers make the truck look way better

Also got a wraith on trade

I used to own that Mattzilla chassis before it started making the rounds in the classifieds. It's a heavy thing but built like a tank.

With a little cut and paste the rover body is a nice fit on it. Heres a pic of a body I started when it was on my bench. Still have that damn thing too.
