Default Knytemare's take on a 6WD

I've been wanting to build my own 6x6 for awhile so when my friend gave me his half built SCX as payment for work I did for him, I got to building right away! This will definitely be a budget build, but I hope you like it!.

Looks pretty clean so far. What body do you have planned for it?

I'm not really sure but I'm leaning towards doing something similar to what Bender had on his with a Honcho body and an extended cage.

Yes!!! I love 6x6 builds. I've got one waiting for other projects to be finished. Yours is looking awesome!!! I have built a 2.2 6x6 before and it would out crawl any scaler I had. Man this is going to be Saweet!! I don't know if you've picked out like BENDER yet but Bruder makes some killer MAN cabs and you can find them NIP on certain trucks for $40ish bucks. Being this, I believe, your first 6x6 build then I can give a helpful hint I learned. On the left or right side middle axle put a stronger spring or it will bottom the shock out going up hill. I used Team Associated spring from an SC10 on mine with Proline scaler shocks. They fit the spring cup fine so maybe they will work on the axial spring cups. I had golds all the way around mine and that center one needed a firmer rate. You might already know that so forgive if you do. I can't wait to see where this rig goes. Looking forward to it. If you have any question please send me a PM.

Thanks for the kind words and the advice! I may have to try that! I am using the electronics out of my old comp rig which consists of a Novak Crawler Rooster, Hitec 5955TG servo and a 35T motor. I'm going to try and mount the body tonight and see how that looks. If I get it done in time I'll post pics tonight!

do you have to buy the center axle special for a through shaft application? or is it something that can be built from two "front" axle halves?

Well, I started doing my 6x6 already and i learned a few things about the axles.

You must have had to shave the middle axles provisions for where it originally mated together with a male/female flange outlining each housing. Because when you use 2 front housing, they both have male flanges so, the only way they can mate is if you shave both male flanges flat.

And the rear axle must be flipped and run upside down so the wheels turn the right way.

Am i close?

You are correct! Shaving the axles halves was easy, figuring out how to mount the rear axle with it being flipped was the hard part haha! I can take closer pics of the frame and rear axles if you would like! I know it would have helped me build mines, but hey, its part of the fun!

Yeah.. I think I got it pretty much figured out. but, im looking forward to seeing more pictures of this thing anytime you want to post them.

I got the last axle flipped and I used the 3link mount, reversed it and mounted it on the front of the axle with some small spacers because of the offset it has. It sounds confusing but, If you did the same thing, you probably know what I'm talking about.

Your pictures helped a lot man. Thanks. and Thanks for the inspiration.

Hope these pics help! I know they would have helped me when I was building hahaha!

The frames are connected with a piece of steel that a friend of mines cut for me. I had him make a piece that was long enough to help give the frame rails something to hold on to and help prevent flex.

Looks good! Gotta love those 6x6's. Looking forward to the rest of it.

I made one a earlier this year but had the dual axles up front. Setting up that double steering was fun!

I remember seeing your rig and thought it was totally cool!

Figured I would post a pic of this rig next to my Honcho that I'm almost finished with.

I cant get enough of looking at your pics. Im waiting on parts to finish putting mine together. Cant wait!
I might shorten the links to the middle axle so i can get a shorter overall wheelbase.

Haha thanks! Hopefully the pics I took helped you out! Let me know if you make a build thread of your 6x6! Right now the body I idea had isn't working as I had planned so all I have right now is the Honcho cab.
