Wiring options for body mounted lights?
 

I am looking for more ideas on how to wire body mounted lights. Meaning, how to be able to connect/disconnect the wiring from the body for removal and installation. Currently, I have ring terminals on my front body posts, and on the body, so when they are put together it completes the circuit and the lights work. The only down side, is when the body twists the lights will flicker. I don't want to have to mess around with hard to access connectors or anything like that. What have you guys done that works well?

For my headlights and marker lights I used a 4 "AA" box with and on/off switch from radio shack. Cost about $3. Mounted in the back of my jeep body using gorilla tape. Could also do the same thing, but using a lipo.

I use male and female receiver wires, quickly connect and disconnect. I leave the wire with enough slack where I can set my jeep body to the side of the chassis for battery changes, without having to disconnect the wiring.

TrailSnail hit the nail on the head. This is probably going to be your more simple option. I have the same thing going on in my wiring for my dingo. I have seen far more complex LED wiring jobs on the forums but personally i dont have the attention to detail or the time. Just leave yourself enough slack to remove your body and lay it next to your rig when it comes time to work on it.

Thats exactly what i did using the 4 AA holder from raido shack i have mine mounted where the stock battery plate was

I have used RX connectors and Deans small ultra connectors. The reason why I would have more than one connector is because I have several light systems on several of my rigs.

On my Jeep Wrangler JK I used two different types of small Deans ultra connectors a 4 pin and a 2 pin.

i have used both JST connectors as well as servo extentions cut in half (so you have male/female) and works great for me as i have headlights and taillights body mounted but powered through the receiver since i have controllers on them

Yeah I ended up using Servo extensions like Richterat83. and Of course always leave it up to nissan_driver24 to have the cleanest looking wiring ever.

To clean up my wiring, I use wire looming instead of shrink wrapping. Heres a pic for example, I'll have to dig up a body pic showing the LED wiring in the body but similar, using the wire looming and zipties to keep it high and tight =)
