Default SCX10 shipping with new servo

Ok Finally got my honcho & Im slowly going down the list of what to do to it ,..I was all prepared to replace the stock servo bushing with a bearing ,..only to find mine came with a Tactic TSX45 servo ? I tried to look it up & while it does seem to be described as a duel ball bearing servo ,..(Im new to this)
Im not sure if there is a bearing in there , or a plastic bushing ? for the horn , or if the bearing I have for stock axial servo they used to ship with would fit on this one , if it even needs it ? Anyone know ?

many std servos utilize the same sized output shaft bearings.
tho' I can't say fer sure regarding the Tactic servo.

all that I've read...
states it has bearings instead of bushings.

You got one of those in a Honcho? Must have been one of the last production runs...

Ok ya , I couldnt find too much info on it so I took it apart I can confirm now , this new servo does not need the mod to replace the plastic bushing with a bearing , it allready has one ,..so I just sprayed the board with fluid film & put it back together , it looks like a decent servo

I got one of the new Tactic servos on my JK Rubicon I received a month ago. It's a lot smoother and seems a tad bit more powerful than my axial servo on my Wraith.

Yea guys the tactic servos are great. They just came out last fall. I have 3 in use in my 7 rigs and have not wrecked any of them yet. Good job axial for upgrading the servo for us!

All the RTR's off Tower were waiting to come into stock - usually what they do is upgrade all of the SCX's eventually when small changes come out. So they should all have AE5, WBHD's and Tactics eventually.

A simple search will give you all the servo specs: TowerHobbies.com | Tactic TSX45 Standard High-Torque Metal Gear 2BB Servo

Just had mine apart. Dual bearings, though neither have dust shields and the front bearing was immediately full of dirt. They also use brass gears, which are VERY wide for what they are. Should be durable, though lacking a little torque and a tad slow. Swap the front bearing for a sealed unit, pack the gears and bearings full of marine grease, run some RTV around the back cover and wiring exiting the case, and throw some dielectric grease over the board.
