| is it better to buy a chassis or a rtr?
so I want a scx10 i like the honcho but wish it came in a kit. Should i buy the rtr or a rolling chassis and add the electronics and aluminum links etc? Are the electronics in the rtr any good or will i need to replace them soon. if i buy a chassis i would have to use traxxas electronics i have to stay under the $355.00 mark of the rtr. Any input would be appreciated.

If it were me, I would buy an scx10 manual first. Then I would buy every part separately so it's built exactly the way you want without having to sell off the parts that come with the RTR.

| Re: is it better to buy a chassis or a rtr? from what i noticed these ebay chop shops will sell all the parts separately but for a few bucks more. Over time wouldn't this method be extremely expensive.

It is more, yes I've done it both ways...I like to buy a kit and sell what you don't need or want. Another way is to buy a star and look in the classified section...I've tried to sell stock stuff dirt cheap, just to get rid of it and partially fund what I want for upgrades. There are a lot of good deals in there. |

| Re: is it better to buy a chassis or a rtr? As mentioned, buy certain pieces used from RCC, and buy other things new. Might even be able to score a roller cheap.

I got my rolling chassis for $140 from a chop shop just needed electronics and a body, which I had. So it depends on parts on hand as to how cheap one can be built.

There is always the piece you forgot about... so I bought a rtr and a roller. The roller took longer then I initially thought even though I had electronics.

I've built most of my trucks by used parts from the classified section. I'll buy a chassis, upgraded axles, MIP's, upgraded trans and so forth... |
