Default My SCX based clod build.

I always loved the clod body. I owned a 1:1 in 1990 but it got turned into a work truck. So I have a new body and a bunch of stock parts from my class 2 rig. During the past couple of months I acquired the rest of the parts I needed to complete the build. This build is not to fancy so don't get your hopes up! But here she is.

I'm using Level 3 upper link mounts, Tekin FXR ESC & 35T motor combo. I also made a forward battery mount & electronics platform.

I also took the advise of a fellow member & cut down my factory sliders to get the tucked in look.

I chose RC Rock Armor front & rear bumpers for this build. I like that they house LEDs & the rear bumper has a built in winch mount & 2" receiver for a hitch.

Nice work of the clod bro, it reminds me of my uncles mud truck that he use to have to go hog hunting up in Big Cypress..

I made some fender wells tonight. Tomorrow I will paint them with rust oleum rubber flex paint. The best part about making these is emptying the container!

Clean build!! Are those the standard size tsl's? If so, would they work on RRW's or NewRed's courses?

Fast question

Why did you space out top links for?

They are standard size, about 1/4" shorter & skinnier than the xl's on my other rig. I like the bigger tires for comps. I built this rig to be a trail runner.

The top links are spaced off the frame as per Level3 for the aluminum link holder on the top of the axle. I think with out them there would be some binding.

Always been a fan of mud trucks. You got the proportions just right on this one.

What length links did you use. I have enough parts for a build and a fresh clod body, I just want the wheelbase to be right.

The fender wells turned out great. So I figured I would spray the bed to give it a real bed liner look & feel. Unfortunately the product does not have good bridging capability.

I measured the lower links on my clod, the length eye to eye is 4.25". You will have to clock your axles to minimize your driveline angle.

Just a little progress tonight, I installed 1/4" ice maker line over my lower links so the threaded rod won't hang me up. Installed LEDs in the bumpers, have to wait until the silicone drys so I can route the wires.

That looks sweet man. I've been thinking of fender wells as we'll. great idea. I can't wait to see the body and the wells together.

Okay I got her painted. I tried to do two colors but I suck as a painter so it's metallics black with two coats of clear coat and she's ready to go. I also installed LEDs in the front & rear bumpers.
