Default From axial 27T motor to HH Torquemaster pro 35T, any gears that need changing?

I've got a pretty much stock SCX10 Jeep wrangler still running the 27T motor. I'm looking to upgrade to a HH Torquemaster pro 35T. i already plan to upgrade to MIP drive shafts but I'm wondering if i need to change any of the gear(transmission or axles) which i change to the new motor? and if so what should i change to. below is what the manual shows it came with.

Stock:
Pinion 48DP 20T AX30578
Spur 48DP 87T AX30672

20T Drive Gear AX30394
Bevel Gear Set (38/13) AX30392

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

All depends on how yow drive.
I run a Hh35 tq master on a 3s lipo, on a stock transmission and rear end with zero failures in 6 months. But I tend to be careful how I apply power and drive with mechanical sympathy.

I'd go in the 16-17 tooth range on the pinion. It will give you better crawlabilty, and the speed will be plenty. You will find that 35t handwound motor to make more overall power than the 27t sealed can, even though the turn count is higher.

If upgrading to MIP shafts, you will want HD gears in both axles, and HR or Robinson gears in the transmission. The MIP's have zero give to them so the pressure is then put to the gears.

You may not need to upgrade them right away, but those both become your next weak points when you add MIPs.

so i found this:
Robinson Racing Products 1016 Pinion Gear 48P, 16T
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=ATVPDKIKX0DER

for axial diff gears I've found 36T/14T, 38T/13T & 43T/13T. Not sure when one to get for the axles.

i found this for the trans gears but seems kinda pricey.

For the axles there are HD options of 3 ratios from Axial --

AX30395 - 38T/13T stock ratio
AX30401 - 36T/14T overdrive
AX30402 - 43T/13T underdrive

Common combinations are OD front / UD rear (best for crawling) or OD front / stock rear or stock front / UD rear. Opinions vary greatly on what is "best". Search and you will see. Just don't make the front axle turn slower than the rear.

For the transmission Axial has this HD gearset --

AX30708

FWIW, I have a HH TorqueMaster Expert 35T on 2S with the above transmission gears and OD/UD differential gears and 87T/15T spur/pinion gears. Works awesome.

basically the same with me. only ever twisted a non-HD wildboar shaft in a bind. matter of fact, im running the 27T torquemaster on stock trans gears and stock RC4WD Yota 2 axles. i only recently blew what would be the stock bottom trans gear due to the pinion gear coming loose (in a Dinky GR7)
