Default What does a $1350 Scx-10 look like?

Surprisingly, It doesn't look like much. This is where I am at in a build, the Platform is almost complete. I wanted to build a platform that would last me for the next 4-5 years, so I invested in high quality parts where it counts, and didn't add any bling. I have been Keeping track of build costs along the way, first time I have done something like that. I am so shocked every time I look at the parts bill, then look at the truck. Where the hell did it all go?

Now, keep in mind, these parts can be bought cheaper, but this is what I paid. I am up in Canada and shipping usually adds quite a bit of cost. So before commenting that I paid too much, or "x doesn't cost that much..", these are the actual amounts (rounded to the dollar) that I paid for these parts new over the last three years.

*disclaimer- I know my tires are on backwards (for photos only), I know my rims are cheopo rims (but I love the look, and they hold a bead).

And if you can relate, let's see some post of some high dollar, completely unimpressive builds

The trick to building a RC is to never keep track of the parts costs.

I know I've got over 3k invested into my wraith over the years. If I was to start from scratch today I could do it all considerably cheaper. Just part of the learning curve.

So what body and etc are you planning to run?

If it will make you feel better, that's about $1,100 in US dollars based on the current exchange rate.

I just got a GCM motor mount and transfer case kit for my Ascender and those are worth every loonie. I now believe no build can be complete without a GCM transfer case.

So I just looked up at the shelf above my comp that has my wife's, daughter's, and my scalers on it, did some mental math and shuddered a bit. It is amazing how fast it all adds up.

tires are on backwards and the shaft going from t-case to front axle looks like it could bind.

Now Tim that's a cheap build compared to my new truck, I likely have close to $1000.00 just in Vanquish parts in mine. lol

Shaft is fine, no binding through full suspension flex.. I am considering flipping the shafts, as someone pointed out a that they could hold water the way they are now, i thought that was a good tip... and the tires are on the right way, it's rear steer only.

it is best not to think about the $$ and think about the enjoyment. I play with model trains and dare not tell my wife how much I have invested in them. One time added up how much a 30 car train with 3 engines pulling it was..nearly $2000 going by on the tracks. It is a hobby and as long as you are not taking away from a real need in life, have fun!

Same here I hate to think about what I have in my "toys" as some people call them. Right now just looking around my office $1800 in a yeti xl (just got it two months ago), custom homebuilt 1/10 monster truck around $700, around $500 in a modded redcat rockslide, $300 between 2 xmods micro rcs, and probably another $500 or more in random parts and pieces laying around from older builds that are sitting in the attic. It's horrible to add up what you spend to have fun, I use to spend plenty on parties and such when I was younger but now I just sit down with a beer and wrench on my rcs...either way it goes just have fun and keep the receipts hidden from the wife lol

So your truck is rear steer? I'd be interested in seeing some more pics of this project.

The picture above is obviously front steer unless he's mounting his body backwards to match the tires.

Shipping from Pit Bull to Canada isn't cheap ($20-30).

Still. $29 a pair everywhere. That would be $40 shipping. Find that hard to believe. I have shipped to canada before plenty....

Is that your truck or are you just answering questions for him?
