| 103mm or 85mm piggybacks?
I really like the look and price of these g-made piggybacks. There are only 2 options available to me on Amazon which are listed above. I have posted the links for you to have a look. Alternatively should I search elsewhere for the 93mm set? Thanks, Mike G-made 21007x Piggyback Shock, 103mm, Parts - Amazon Canada http://www.amazon.ca/G-made-21207-Pi...iggyback+Shock |

Some options on 90mm regular shocks available to me are listed below. They are not piggybacks but still very nice. I'm open to opinions and suggestions. http://www.amazon.ca/G-made-20601-G-...4869889&sr=1-5 http://www.amazon.ca/G-made-20604-G-...869889&sr=1-11 http://www.amazon.ca/G-made-20701-G-...869972&sr=1-40 http://www.amazon.ca/G-made-20801-TS01-Scale-Shock/dp/B009VXUZDY/ref=sr_1_44?s=toys&ie=UTF8&qid=1444869972&sr=1-44 http://www.amazon.ca/G-made-20902-Scale-Shock-Silver/dp/B009VXUZFM/ref=sr_1_48?s=toys&ie=UTF8&qid=1444869972&sr=1-48 Last edited by skiiermike; 10-14-2015 at 07:34 PM. |

I have the 93mm gmade piggybacks on a custom project I am working on. They seem to be about the right length for what I am doing. I had them on a wraith and they were a little bit short, I wished I had gone with a 103mm but for the scx platform and wraith axles they seem to work fairly well.. I am still building it so I haven't gotten to run it yet but I can send pics if you want to see them mounted up and ask some questions.

I've had them on my SCX10 for 1.5yrs now. 93mm. Good shocks, they do leak though like most shocks. I opened them up for the first time this week to check the oil levels and my fronts were low on oil and the rears were out! I bought them through RPP. I like the adjustability.

So it sounds like 93 is the way to go. Any input on the other non piggybacks? The price is way better. Sent from my LG-D852 using Tapatalk |

Yeah 85 is gonna be low. I would look for something around 100mm unless you want some real height lol

In the posts above everyone is suggesting 90 mm but I can get the 103 mm off amazon. I was assuming those were to long. Thoughts? Sent from my LG-D852 using Tapatalk

IMO SCX10 crawls best with shocks of about 90mm eye to eye length. 100mm is too long. 93mm non-piggyback is what I would do, piggybacks are generally for higher speed vehicles. I've never found a need for them even on large scale go-fast rigs. The Transitions linked above are too fat, they are for 1/8 scale but they do make them in 1/10.

Is there any reason you would do non piggyback? That gives me a lot more to choose from. Sent from my LG-D852 using Tapatalk

You're welcome. Piggyback is waste, more parts to leak/break, personally I don't see any functional benefit to reservoir in scale shocks. When mounting, the piggyback can get in the way of other chassis/body parts.

Mine have leaked more at the cap than through the piggyback portion.

Some of the shocks i'm looking at such as RC4WD and G-made don't use oil, only an internal spring. Are there any advantages/disadvantages to this? Will the spring alone not work as well over time? |

I run Gmade xd 93mms piggy in rear and emulsion in front, piggy back for looks mostly but, you can stiffen if needed.

Check ebay for some rear shocks off an Associated B4 buggy (the old version, not the 12mm big bore). They are about 93mm long, springs are plentiful and cheap, and no leaking problems. I got 4 from ebay for about $20 shipped, spend a little more if you want threaded bodies.
