Default C10 Chevy with Shapeways narrow axles

I'm not sure how this is gonna turn out, but here goes. I already have a built scx with a ram body but wanted something that looked more scale.

I have a set of Shapeways axle housings on the way. They are 25mm narrower than stock which means each axle shaft needs to be 12.5mm shorter. I hope I don't screw this up..

First step

Nasty welds, wee bit of wabble in one...it'll do for now.

I did. Forgot that the front cvds needed the bearings on before i welded so i had to grind them down anyway.

Nice and narrow. Should almost have the stance of a real one..not tires that stick out a foot.

Yup, kuddos for taking the custom route and making the axles fit the body. Wheel/tire and axle width combo is perfect.

Any issues when assembling the axles?

Thank you. No problems except I forgot to put the bearings on the cvds when I welded them up. I had to grind them back down to slide the bearings back over.
Other than that everything was a perfect yet snug fit. They did an excellent job creating the axle housings. They are very lightweight. Very accurate printing.
