Default New servo advice

Hi guys,

So my stock Tactic TSX45 is starting to go.

Found a good deal on a Savox SC1256TG.

I'm running the AE-5 ESC w/ 35T & 2s (thinking on going 3s shortly)

Question: will a Nova 5626 Glitch Buster be enough to ensure proper operation or will I need a BEC?

Really need some advice

Hmmm. I have a new SCX10 Jeep Wrangler C/R with stock motor/esc. It is new. I changed the servo to the same one [Savox SC1256TG] while doing the RC4WD chassis mount for servo work. The servo humms, but works. I use 2S batteries. I wouldn't think an external BEC would be needed for this servo with that load, but am I wrong?

Thanks for the comments.
Considering FVIcySwan has the same setup as I do I'm hoping to get away with not needing a BEC for now. Will see also if with a 3S will work.
For sure I will get a BEC later on so I can run lights and winch off one battery but would rather put this off for further down the line.

It's a slippery slope for the wallet when we start making modifications.

Thanks again

Something to consider...
I have killed 2 differant escs from not running a external bec. Both were stock powered servos that killed them. Traxxas 2675 and my stock losi mrc

Wow...
Have to keep a good eye on mine when I install the Savox servo.

Anyone have experience with glitch busters (capacitor)?
Would that help?

Sorry I'm a noob at rc electronics.

Savox servos are typically very power hungry. At the very minimum a glitch buster is highly suggested. The optimal would be an external BEC with a 6v setting. Stock Axial receivers are rated for no more than 6v. I have also seen Savox's that required a 6v input and the use of a glitch buster to get then to function without brown outs or glitching. If your servo is rated for more than 6v you can get an external BEC rated for more voltage and wire it directly to the servo. Leaving the receiver running off the internal BEC.

That is a sign of glitching you need to get more power to the servo

Good explanation Redbone, glitch buster for now, BEC as $oon as I can.

Servo runs at 6v, for adding a winch and lights off a 3S 40C lipo, would you say a 10A Castle BEC would suffice?

Thanks

You could go with this UBEC for the servo and lights....By the way this should fit inside the receiver box without the light controller in there or you could use another receiver box mounted in the rear like a gas tank to house the light controller or the UBEC.
HOBBYWING North America — UBEC-3A (2-6S Lipo Input)

I would wire the winch directly off the battery if you're planning on this one
RC4WD 1/10 Mini Warn 9.5cti Winch

With this controller

Ooh, much less than I was thinking.
No excuses now

Will be using a 3racing winch but I guess the setup should not differ much.

Thanks for taking the time to explain these things, much appreciated!

A castle 10a would be the one I recommend. Its adjustable and reliable, and only $25. Remember you often get what you pay for. (Especially in electronics).

Have run that HW UBEC in several models for years with absolutely no problems what so ever. Just cause it has a lower price tag doesn't mean it's garbage! Many times the units with the big name and the High $ you get exactly what you pay for, the marketing and the name, but not necessarily a better product.

if the power hungary of sc-1256tg is a pain for you. you could try the XQ-S4120D.
it's a high performance HV servo from XQ POWER, can handle 8.5 maximum(ok with full-charged 2S lipo)

NobBrainer adjustable BEC 2X CH on it's way. Will probably try to convert the TSX45 into a servo winch and replace the plastic gear w/ metal one.
If I pull it off I save on the 3racing winch cost
