Default What are strong scx10 cvds?

Now first I know there is going to be a person that says "use the search function" I did and didn't find what I was looking for.

What are strong cvds or vvds? I looked at axial cvds and I have heard there junk.

Any advice/ links help.

Besides the XR mod because you asked for CVD/VVDs. I believe the only cvd for the scx10 are the Vanquish vvds. Link Vanquish Products SCX10 VVD V1-HD 4mm Stubs

Depends on how you drive I suppose. Some people break axial cvd's often, some break the cheaper brand cvd's alot... I personally have a set of vanquish vvd's and like them alot, they're holding up fine to my holmes 3300kv setup on 3s... I've also had good luck with axial cvd's on 3s, but with 35t brushed motors... Strc makes hardened cvd's for the scx10, maybe look into those... I don't know anyone with them...but I also don't know how long they've been out for... the vanquish vvd's aren't a whole lot more then the other brands....and I'd bet they last you quite a while...that's just my opinion and what I've experienced with mine so far

Depends on power and driver habits, I've run my axial cvd's for over a year with no issues. But that's a brushed motor and low gearing, and I'm not one to thrash on my truck

Mine is more of a crawler setup. 55t 20/86 gears. In the future I would like to go to 35t on 3s. Are the vanquish ones the best?

I have had good luck with the axial cvd's in the past. I ran them on a brushless 550 can similar to pro4 HD on 3s without issue. I think the ones who break them often don't know how to let up when the rig is in a bind. Use some common since and the axial cvd's should last a long time.

I beat on my 10lb rigs with Axials. I've wallowed a couple out over time but never broke an axle.
I have broke the Axial pins though.
Get Gunner pins no matter what axle you go with.

You heard right Honestly you gotta baby them a little bit, you will need Gunnar pins and your finger will need a purse. I was able to keep them alive in a JK for a good bit using a dry lube like pinewood derby graphite. I would suggest the same as R2j. They take more abuse and the best for the money id say.

I bought those, #STA30464S, they lasted me two trips and broke, i'm using Axial CVD's right now, no problems so far after about 10 trips and 3S ROC412 power

Same here, 3-4 packs and the ST CVDs blew apart. I'm running the VVDs now.

I started with rc4wd in my brushless two speed wraith. They didn't last an hour under the stress of crawling the 12 lb rig. I have since switched to vanquish and no problems, I also run the vanquish in my scx10. I have several hard runs on it and they are still holding up. I am hard on my rigs, and have a heavy throttle finger. Also get the rebuild kit, you can repair it on the trail with two wrenches.

I've ran Axial SCX10/AX10 Universal Joints on a light-to-medium weight rig and broke a couple of pins on tumbles and after getting the tires caught. (Get Gunnar pins for those and drive smart.)

I run the Vanquish VVDs on another medium weight rig and haven't had problems with them yet. And, the steering (when paired with VP 8-degree c-hubs and knuckles) is fantastic - turns way sharper. My recommended set-up.

Hmm. I'm assuming that the wraith and scx10 shafts are built the same right (other than length)

The Vanquish VVDs get my vote, I've given mine hell with no issues. I am trying a set of the RC4WD unis in a new build to see how they do but considering the cost is about the same I'd choose Vanquish.
