Default project never ending

hey everyone I am starting a new build. I have been into rc for quite a while starting with rock crawling. I built a super bully and a 2.2 bully from scratch but don't run them much do to not having good places to crawl where I live. I run 1/8th scale nitro buggy and truggy in the summer also. I decided to build an scx10 scale rig. unsure of what the final rig will be. I like the honcho style pickup but also really like the jeep rubicon. I like the pickups with larger tires but am kind of leaning toward a really scale rig so we will see.

for the start of this build I am starting with a stock 12.3 wheelbase chassis roller with stock drive train and axles.

until I get the next set of parts I will be doing small mods. I will be making links out of stainless or aluminum, going to mirror the trans and move some things around.
hope you like and watch as the build progresses. I will continue to update with pics as I go enjoy.

thanks guys I have been slowly reading the tips thread. a lot to go through. I am actually building a mount now to move the battery up front side ways behind the shock towers so its forward and low. kind of like the battery mount from knight customs. should have all my axle goodies in the mail tomorrow.

hey all had a chance to get a little bit of work done. I relocated the radio box, flipped the skid 180, and made a battery tray mount. I am going to mirror the trans but I need to get the spacers to do it first.

here are a couple pics of the progress. I will have the correct hardware in the mount once I make it to the store.

I made the mount out of brake line tubing and a piece of sheet metal. the bottom mounts are the feet off of the receiver box mounted to the tubing.

Exclamation updates!

well I got some things done on the rig waiting on more parts to arrive now. I got some paint work done, some links made, ssd axle housing, tubes, alum caps, with vp lockers together. I had some problems with the front axle. one shaft wasn't long enough for the locker set screw to catch. going to install vp axles hopefully that fixes the issue. finished the battery mount also. on to the pics!

hey tora the paint I used is parma faschange purple. it is sprayed over black to get different shades of purple depending on how you spray it. I have a couple bodies I did with it also if you check out my other post.
thanks up9018 I am kind of obsessed with purple and have to put some on everything.

Exclamation

hey all I got a few more things done on the rig

machined gears

vp axle shafts

savox servo

I was able to get all my suspension set up

I am able to get full compression on 3 corners. the front pass side is a little bit limited by the panhard bar but only about a quarter inch at most.

I also got mip drive shafts installed

If you still need those spacers for the trans, I found the stock plastic rod ends are the perfect size, and free!

1/4" on these little trucks is a lot when you are thinking in scale terms (1/10th scale is .25" in 1:1 world that's like 2.5"!! which is your standard lift kit on a vehicle) You could always try reworking the pan hard or notching the frame to get full compression. Personally I would just put a little bend in the panhard to get the clearance you need.

Exclamation painted

hey there everyone. its been a long time in the making but I finally got my jk rolling. I got the body painted so we will start there. I painted the inside with a copper color because i didn't want to make or try to find a rust color paint. then i painted the outside with
silver topped with a texture paint and finally sprayed black over the texture paint. i wanted a rhino line look and i think it came out great. i painted the cage and a few interior detail in purple and the rest black. need a driver next. on to the paint pics enjoy!
