It is a simple process.

1. Buy battery
2. Charge battery
3. Drive truck
4. Repeat #2 & 3 as necessary.

i put some liquid electical tape or you could use plasti dip. around the base were the wires come out of the battery, and at both ends where the wrapping doesnt cover. often wonder about the plug but have been told its not an issue.....we'll see lol.

Batteries do not short out in water. If you plan on getting them wet regularly you may want to think about a little extra sealing to keep out dirt.

Thanks, that's good to know, I have all factory waterproof electronics and did a little water proofing ( to connections and such) my self. But i want sure about the battery,so I didn't take it in water deeper than the wheels

The cells themselves are sealed and can handle water without any problems. If you have a hard case, it's a good idea to dump the water out of it after a soggy run. I guess over time the tabs that come out of the cells could corrode and eventually the solder joint fail, but you'll have long worn the pack out before that happens.
