| New guy say's Hello ( and need a quick quide)
Hello to all of you from Norway. So I just picked up a scx kit from a friend and wanted to say hi, and ( probably like every newcomer ) have a few questions I'm mostly into rc tanks , and need a few pointers as to what to get first( and were to score best deals ) on a few hops ops. I see mild use only , and deep inside the upgrades probably , for me ,mostly is cosmetic's . Got some Upgraded steering links and set of tires in the deal. Alu dampers also ( not put on yet ) and a clear dingo body Thanks for looking and taking the time to give me a few pointers Last edited by maxmekker; 08-13-2016 at 03:03 PM. |

First off welcome. As for upgrades.... It's all up to where and how you will be using your rig. For light trails I'd keep it stock until breaking parts . But I'd say one thing is good set of links because those plastic ones are durable but will give way when under stress . As for the rest like stated above depends on your driving environment.

Welcome. I agree with cabron, the links bend a lot, and other upgrades should be on break it/ replace it kind of thing for light trails. One of the first things I did have to replace was the knuckles and c-hub. After running mine for about 6 months they finally just gave out. Granted, this is after a pretty knawrley comp course up in the mountains Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk |

Good video action! Welcome to the trail/crawling side of the hobby. I'd recommend either making your own steel suspension links (using Traxxas REVO rod ends), or see if R2J Kustoms would ship a set of his custom links to Norway, because the Axial aluminum link set uses cheap plastic rod ends, which will eventually break, especially with your rocky terrain. Also, steel will slide over rocks better than aluminum. They say titanium is best, but it's more expensive. You mentioned you received a clear Dingo body with the purchase. If you decide to use that, it'll require an 11.4" wheelbase, as opposed to your current 12" wheelbase. This is probably not something you'll want to mess with for awhile, because of the work involved, but a cheap way to do that is get Traxxas Steel Push Rods (Part #5318 ) for your lower links (front & rear), and rear upper links. For the front upper, you either need to make your own, or look up what aluminum links Axial recommends for 4-linking the front end (in order to get the correct pinion angle). I'm currently doing this very thing! |

After looking a bit I need a quick advice on my G6 Falken 305mm WB kit . Looking into getting the AX30550 link set ( ore any other aftermarked for that matter) for extending it to a 313mm WB . Seems to be a better selection of body's for that WB ( amongs that , the T Hilux i want ) . Have I got it right in that it is only to put on the AX30550 kit, and no need to buy/modify other parts for it to be a 313MM ? Thanks |
