Looks like hydrodipped not paint.

As for waterproof system Holmes Hobbies has that covered with their BR-XL WP Esc and whatever brushed motor you want. Do you want the best performance brushed motor or budget minded. Pro is their top tier with the best parts and hand wound armature. Expert and sport are the lower more budget motors but are machine wound.

The Axial AE-5 and just about any brushed motor is a great combo.

The hobbywing quickrun 1060 is the same as the AE5 but much cheaper. I got mine for $20 shipped at amazon. As far as motors go, all brushed motors are waterproof.

I'm happy with my Yeah Racing Hackmoto 35T on 3S lipo. That motor is one of the cheapest rebuildable brushed motors you can find. So far, so good. Lots of torque. I'm liking it.

Perfect! That ESC is a rebadged Quicrun 1060, and that is the same motor I have. What a great price!

If you are going to use 2S lipo, you can go ahead and use the 27T motor from your link. If you are planning on running 3S (you should!) you will want to find that same combo with a 35T motor.

Please note that your link ships from China. It will take anywhere from 5 days to 2 months to get to you! For just $6 more you could get the parts from US sellers and get them much quicker:

Do those Quicrun ESC's have strong enough drag brake?

(I mean really all it has to do is close a circuit on the motor leads for 100% brake, but who knows how they're doing things....)

Yup, VERY strong. It is adjustable slightly via the jumpers on the ESC. But at full drag break it's really solid. At full speed if I let off the throttle completely it will brake so hard that the rear wheels come off the ground about 3 inches.

I'm blown away at how good the ESC is for $20. I have a Castle SV3 in my other rig, and the only difference I can tell is that the castle has slightly better low end control. But I paid 3 times as much for the Castle. As far as how they handle on the rocks, they are very very similar. Don't think twice about the 1060, it's great.

Do yourself a favor and get a reliable rebuildable motor.
Those Hackmotos are rumored to be made on the same like as the Novak rockstar and Tekin machine wound.... For $20.
