| Best SCX10 body for crawling
Hello, I'm actually an SCX10 II owner, but want to ask you SCX10 experts a question about bodies. I want to keep my chassis at the stock 12.3", but the Cherokee XJ body just plain sucks for technical crawling because both the front/rear bumpers stick out way too far and always gets caught up on stuff. So what do you guys think is the best 12.3" body out there for crawling? As far as the Axial bodies go, the Honcho looks quite practical, but I'm not a big fan of the look. The Deadbolt and Wrangler G6 edition look suitable, but they're for a 12" wheel base. Would it be difficult to get it to fit on my 12.3" chassis? I'm also very open to suggestions about other brands such as Pro-line etc. Thanks in advance! |

As a devoted XJ owner, I am appalled. But as a competitive RC driver, I understand fully if you're tackling Class 3 style terrains the big box isn't the best body choice, unless you heavily modify it. I would look at building a truggy with the Honcho cage and whatever truck cab catches your eye. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk |

I don't feel any limitations with my Axial JK body running an aftermarket front bumper and the stock rear bumper minus the tire carrier. But I'll agree with Jeepy84 saying a truggy is probably the best clearance option.

Jeep G6 or Deadbolt look fine on a stretched 12.3 WB rig. Get yourself some small stubby bumpers front and rear. about as good as you gonna get without going to a full blown truggy IMO

i dont mind the bumpers sticking out on my rigs makes it more difficult to drive. you really got spot your tires on the rocks kinda like the real deal. g6 body would look fine on a 12.3wb.

Thanks for all the opinions so far. If the G6 body will fit on the 12.3WB, then I think I will go with that. But given the wheel base difference, will the body wheel archs line up with my wheels properly? And what stubby bumpers would you recommend with a G6 body? Problem is I don['t have the opportunity to see these body/bumper combinations in real life which leaves me to rely on photos. And that makes it hard to judge exactly how much different bumpers actually stick out beyond the tires.

I would say the Deadbolt is the best choice as the front and rear of that body are dove tailed in. This body can squeeze into areas other bodies get hung up in.

Ive got to say that I still like the look of the wrangler body more than the deadbolt. But does the deadbolt body really have better approach angles? The wrangler looks very similar in this regard to me. As for bumpers, as nice as metal bumpers look, aren't plastic ones more practical in terms of not showing scrape marks as much and also flexing a little when you need it to? I was considering the stock poison spider plastic bumper, does it allow good approach angles?

@bilinvic Wow, that's exactly what I want! Can you tell me what front/rear bumpers those are? Nice approach angles? |

Yeti front bumper with EXO bumper supports for the front bumper and Axial G6 front bumper for the rear bumper! Here's the build thread: bilinvic's SCX10 II With this body and bumper combination, they allow for some very technical slow crawling. |

My deadbolt with custom links to stretch the front out. I also slam the body down low and have MT Claws that are 4.75 inches tall and just trim the body. Wheelbase is 12 3/8.

I'll add my favorite body to the list, the Axial Wraith Spawn body. This body has zero overhang front and rear and if you cut the fenders off the same way as the G6 or Deadbolt bodies (which I also love), you could drop this on a 12.3 wheelbase with ease. My current wheelbase on this body is right at 12.1

the approach angles are about the same on the deadbolt and gs but the deadbolt being dovetailed front and rear give it the advantage of going through tight spots that other bodies might get hung up on. i know i have a pic somewhere if me squeezing mine through some tight spots.
