Havent ran my scx10 in a long while and getting back into it as I am finishing up a budget rig for my 6 yr old son. Dad is looking to spice up his old rig with some new stuff. Lol
I was checking out parts and am thinking about picking up the ssd axle housings and the performance steering kit.
Any known issues with weakpoints or such with these parts. I dont want to throw a bunch of money to get those parts working. I have a hand bros cms and panhard setup currently on rig. Does the steering kit actually give more steering? Running stock driveshaft in axle but prob bo to cvds eventually.
This is steering kit I'm referring to.

Any info appreciated on how well the parts work and hold up.

And for fun figured I could share the rig in finishing up for my almost 6yr old son

As far as steering angle improvement, until you swap out the dogbones that's going to be your limiting factor. Once those are gone you'll notice fairly substantial gains (or reduction) in turning radius.

I'm a HUGE fan of SSD. Their parts and wheels are high quality stuff at a fair price. I go to them for upgrades first. I highly recommend that pro steering kit but I can't personally speak to their axle housings. I've had them on my list to try but haven't gotten them yet. I've heard great things about them though.

Are you using the pro steering kit on stock axial housings? I see it says they can be used on stock. I figured the housings were fairly cheap, cool looking and mine are looking quite rough lol. Thanks for the reply btw

Yup just using stock housings currently. I wouldn't be afraid to give the SSD housings a try. I'm just debating doing an AR44 swap on it next. If I don't, the SSD's are going on.

I'm using the SSD axle housing, CMS kit, and pro steering conversion with Axial CVD's. The difference was huge. You have to have to CVD's though as said before. The truck turns 150% better than stock. You will have to adjust your drag link length a few mm to get the steering dialed in at zero trim. I used axial aluminum spacers on either end between the rod end and link.

Plus one for the housings & cms kit. Using stock internals.

I have the d60 axle housings, and also the diamond axles. Very happy with all of them. No issues.

D60 housings are great, and the pro steering kit is awsome. The housings will accept all stock parts, and vice versa. My D60's live under my brushless 2 speed 2.2 tired F150. My current issue is keeping front cvd's alive. She blows them apart after an hour or so of trail running...

Thanks for all the replies guys

I went ahead and pulled the trigger on ssd housings, axial cvds, ssd steering kit, flanges for knuckles, and a whole new bearing kit since I was redoing axles already. Cant wait !!

Anybody got a pic of their steering at full lock with the steering kit and cvds. Curious to see how much of a change over stock I can expect

So apparently the steering kit wont work with axial 8 beadlocks?? I guess I need some wider hexes than the stock aluminum ones? The rod ends rub the tire and hits the beadlock screws really bad? Little irritated that ssd claims it works with all wheels

what knuckles are you using? I have found that the axial high clearance knuckles fix the issues of rubbing against the wheels in every instance I have had... usually I was running the VP 8* knuckles that rubbed against the wheels/tires on the inside.

The ssd knuckles in steering kit. I ordered some 9mm wide hexes. Wouldnt mind a little extra width in the truck so I'll give it a shot

I also had this problem. SSD diamond axles and SSD high clearance knuckles. But it's a non-issue for me. I run slightly wider hexes if I must, but most of my wheels aren't Axials anyway.

Dang, that stinks. I'm using the Proline Denali plastic beadlocks. They must have a little more offset than the stock axial.

Edit: Confirmed with stock axial hexes, inside beadlock ring screws hit hard on the rod ends. Wider hexes?
