| Re-Visited ~ My SCX10 II Clodbuster Project
Re-Visited ~ My SCX10 II Clodbuster Body Project I get a lot of flack for not running my R/C Projects ~ I enjoy building them more then running them. Some just don't understand that ? ~ Many hours and late nights working building my dream scale trail truck. I cant afford a 1:1scale Rig like this in my life time but can enjoy a 1:10th Scale One. Well it's 99% done our projects are never done always adding something more to improve on them. Some STRC Aluminum upgrades to the chassis, RC4WD King 100mm Shocks, RPM Blower and Side Exhaust, Spray on Berliner, Running Boards, Aluminum Roll Bar, Scale looking old school 6 Lug Steal Wheels, 1977 Chevy Front Grill with headlight covers. A $1000.Project that I can't afford to run and bash on. It took one year of savings and selling of my Aurora T-Jet chassis to build this truck. Running on 1:10th Scale trails { Yes that's what it was built for } Like going two tracking in northern Michigan as I did with my Uncles Jeep many years ago. Small hills. Shallow mud pits, The Real Deal in scale is what I want out of an R/C Sc. Truck nothing more. |

I Put My 2.2 Tires Back On my SCX10 II Clodbuster project. With the 100mm shocks, Plus an additional 3/8" lift. So it should clear just about anything on the trail now. I put Traxxas rod ends on my Rc4wd 100mm shocks they gave it just the right amount of lift needed. Even with that setup I only get about 97% of full articulation before the tires rub on the fender flares. |

My small work space ~ My Scaler is getting there slowly. Not real happy with the 3d printed 1977 Chevy Grill. I added the AXIAL Light Grills / Covers thinking that would improve on it. Someday I will find an original Clodbuster Grill with the Chevy emblem on the Bay. That would finish my project to my liking. Last edited by Stomper Fan 777; 12-21-2016 at 10:14 AM. |

| Re: Re-Visited ~ My SCX10 II Clodbuster Project I had my 2.2 5" tall tires on with the Hot Racing lift kit installed along with the 100mm shocks, but it didn't work out as planed. For one it was to top heavy and messed with the drive shaft angles to much. Well all that said I put it all back with just the 100mm shocks and with the 1.9 4 1/2" tall tires back on it. Also it messed with the pan hard bar even with extra shims / washers added. I may someday go with a taller tire but only 4 3/4" tall max... Any taller your just asking for trouble, In less your running with a body that has the wheel wells cut out to the max, And you don't need to raise the chassis. It may work out for you. Handy to know how much tyre it can take without causing issues. Just about to make the tyre purchase ;)

Very nice, i enjoy build them a lot myself , i understand you dump a 1000.00 in a toy truck and roll it down a mountain, not much fun for the wallet.

Hi blumaro, Yes I am vary close to that $1000. mark if not over a little bit but that's including the price of the kit and radio gear also. I need to start working on my 1:10th scale garage so I have somewhere to park it. I need to add about 5" to it because this truck in 2" longer then my old RC4WD Stomper. That is the truck I built the garage for and it barely fit once I added the workbench. |
