Default Crazed SCX10 II

Mine will be a slower build than most of the others as I only have a little time each day to build, and I am trying to put it together how I want without going too far from Axial's intent.

First off, I ordered the day after the announcement, but since I am West Coast it seems we were to wait till the 2nd shipment. no Biggie as I still have my Toyzuki SCX10 to work on. (Still not done).

Tower has a great discount and threw in a free knife.

Cleaned off an area to work...

Got out my new knife..

No longer sealed...

MMM my first Axial Kit. I actually didn't touch RC at all from about 2001 till earlier this year, now I want to play all day.

Starting the build..

Following the instructions, so I'll just show pics and describe if I change anything.

Comparing to my Deadbolt..

Back at it...

Seemed like the rear axle could use a couple more bearings so I dug thru my Tamiya boxes and found these..

That's about it for now...

Oh, mounted up the tires onto some Axial Beadlocks with Locked up RC hardware...

Yes I to added a couple of bearings to the rear axle also. Don't really know if it was needed, but sure can't hurt to help keep the axle shaft a straight.

Got my Stainless screw set...

So I had to pull the axles apart and replace all the screws..

Notice the set screws for the links... Nice.

I also put Traxxas balls into the links so they will be metal, Had to put washers in to shim the fits so there is no slop.

Put the axles aside for now..

I need to pick up one of those stainless screw sets ... my kit is still in the box waiting to be built, so that will work out nice! How does the quality of the stainless set look?

Was time to play with shocks..

Found like the others Ive seen that the collars don't want to go on easily..

Carved a little chamfer into the top side of the threads..

Good to go..

Sanded the pistons just a bit until they moved in the shock bodies smoothly, then put them together..nothing special here.

Randomness..

Traded my jeep body that came with the truck for a different body and a few cans of paint... I'll show that later.

You know you can buy the same type of screws from a fastener company for 1/3 of the price and have left overs.

Fitting the Proline '66 ford body..

Little trim...

Out of my basement..

Decided we were going camping so it was time to get this thing ready to play..Started with a servo..

Servo is in there somewhere..

Someone asked earlier about the traxxas rod ends...I used this bag..

Tape..

Black..

Hmmm...

Silver on the outside as a test..

Or red...

Silver wins...

Put the scx10II front bumper mount crossmember on the rear..

Now the kit bumper fits..

Still have to lower the body down..

Time to get this thing running..
