Default AX10 gearbox with scx10 2 axles - how's the gearing?

Just wondering how this works out? Want to use the scx10 2 box on something else and have an old ax10 scorpion gearbox spare - don't know how the gearing would work out or any other issues?

Obviously I wouldn't have a slipper with this set up - don't know how essential this is on these trucks?

Thanks.

Edit:

Ooh, looking at the kit there is already included a separate skid plate drilled for the ax10 transmission that would save some fannying....

The scx10 II Cherokee, Wrangler, and Honcho RTRs all have ax10 style transmissions, so the gearing should work fine without issues. Also, is it plastic geared?

Goodstuff - thanks!

Good question re ax10 gears - I suspect they may be plastic - looking at the old manual they list as ax80010 - not sure ?..

Just checked yeah plastic... I guess run them till they poop themselves....

It's that or I just need to buy a few more gears and bits for my other project ( Toyzuki).

If they are plastic, the steel set is around $38 have had mine for over 3 years without trouble.

Thanks man.

I'll also download the rtr manual and check out how similar mine are....

Edit: Just checked and yes same internal gears as AX10 Scorpion. Just has a longer input shaft for slipper and a surround etc....
