Default SCX Blazer Build

I haven't had a crawler in a couple years, and I'd like to get back into it.

I don't want to get too crazy with an extravagant build or fabrication, just thinking basic bolt on and a kit.

I'm thinking:

SCX10.2 Builders kit
RC4WD Blazer Body
MOD19RC Blazer to SCX10.2 mounts
BowHouse Forward Mount Trans Cradle
BowHouse Battery Tray + Servo mount
Using my old SCX10.1 electronics
Using LURC 1.9 wheels and rings

A couple things I'm wondering - are the MOD19 and BowHouse parts good choices? Any better alternatives? I'd like to keep the interior.

I'd like to run some rock sliders, but I'm not sure if anything will fit wit the MOD19 mounts for the Blazer body. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Lastly, I like the idea of the pre-painted Blazer bodies from RC4WD, but I'd like to do a more scale purpose built beater crawler build. I'll probably trim the fenders up a bit like a 1:1 would and the perfect paint doesn't really match that. I've never really messed with paint, are there any good ways to "patina" the pre-painted bodies and make them look like an older sun baked rig?

The forward mount I believe only works with the Cherokee kit transmission (black), not the builders kit transmission (silver). I could be wrong though but I'd double check before moving forward.

Perfect, thanks for the heads up!

Any other companies to look into?

He’s right...our cradle only works with the XJ and UMG trannies. Our HD tray works with all flavors. “thumbsup”

Ah bummer. Thanks for clarifying.

I didn’t realize there were significant differences in the trans.

Do you happen to know any that fit the silver builders kit trans?
