Default RBK driveshaft question

Hi all, I’m in the middle of putting together a raw builders kit. I just noticed that the holes in the transmission output shafts are not lined up. They are at maybe a 45 degree angle.

Hopefully it can be seen in the pic. The set screw heads on each driveshaft are not on the same side, but they aren’t ideally 180 degrees. Am I going to have vibration issues with this?

Thanks in advance.

Wen i replaced the gears in my 10.2 3gear trans, i accidentally got the outputs off just like that. I havent had any issues. A crawler/trail rig doesnt go fast enuf for it to effect anything. IF it was a fast basher, then id tear it down n line them back up

Thanks for the reply, good to know. This is the second time I’ve put the trans together, don’t really want to open it up again. The first time I stripped a screw and had to cut the case to get the gears out. This is a replacement case. Need to pay closer attention apparently, lol.

I've never lined up the outputs on the transmissions...never even thought of it. Can't imagine that would cause an issue.

Same here. What is critical though is the phasing of the shafts. Just make sure the grubs line up end to end.

Thanks a lot guys. What made me question it is, the manual shows installing each set screw on opposite sides of the output shaft. Moving on to axle gear shimming and chassis rail assembly.

New to crawlers, yes. I have a TRX-4 but it was an rtr. Put together several Tamiya kits though. RBK has been nice to put together so far. But I’m surprised they only include plastic ball ends. I ordered a set of stainless to swap in.

BTW, do you guys recommend shimming the ring gear in the axles? Mine have just a little bit of side to side play.

I always line up the center drive and both ends of the driveshafts.

Edit: and shim all gears, transmission and diffs/spool.
