| Project Sumorai
So,I've had another project in mind for a while and decided that since the Ambushed Goat is basically done,It was time to start it. Most people that know me ,know that I prefer the less used bodies. So,I present to you,Project Sumorai (I'll call it that until I come up with a better name ). The plan is to use the Proline Sumo body but,not stock wheelbase. When I saw that the Raw Builders Kit came with the links to do 3 different wheelbases,it was a no brainer. Currently have it built up to a roller. Had to temporarily borrow the wheels and tires from my Capra to do it. This one will be more fab than machine work. Sent a few files to the laser today so I can get started on figuring out tube work. More to come. |

When I mocked the Sumo body onto my Rbk, I found the frame rails were much too long. What is your plan for this and body mounts? Watching with intrest! |

| Re: Project Sumorai Gonna chop the rear rails as needed and, designing a front winch mount that will sit over the front overhang. As far as body mounts go,haven't fully decided that yet.

While I'm waiting on some stuff from the laser, decided to bend a few tubes. They're still a little long on the bottom due to not knowing exactly how high the sliders will sit.

Keep forgetting to update this. Anyways, got a couple of brazing fixtures made for the front bumper and slider plates. Was able to get the main hoop brazed in so,I can build from there. Made 2 different height bumpers so,I can decide which one I'll go with.Need to finish them and,add a stinger. Along the way I changed my mind on how I want the in-cab portion of the cage to be. Also, finally decided on how I want the tailgate bars. Designed some brackets that will bolt on where a rear bumper would (after I shorten the frame).Bottom tube of tailgate bars will get brazed to them. Hopefully,if I don't run in to more personal issues,I can get a lot more done soon. More to come. |

Got a little more done in between work and crawling. Basic cab cage is done and started on the rear bars. Now I can determine how much to shorten the frame. Hoping to get more done this week. Will be adding all detail tubes after the basics are done.

Today I got the chassis shortened and started on the rear cage. And yes,the perspective makes it look way off in the second pic but,it's pretty equal. Once the rear is done,I can start on the front. Then I can clean up a few of the joints. Still relearning how to braze. LOL Getting closer but, still a long ways to go. |

My mom briefly had a Samurai in like 1991. Always thought they were really cool. This looks like it's gonna be an absolute weapon!
