Would 1.55s fit the SCX10 III straight axles?

I'm planning a 10.3 build but I want to ditch the massive tires and portal axles. I'm drawn towards 1.55" wheels and tires. Is anyone else running this size on their 10.3 and will they clear the front knuckles on the straight axle?

It'll depend on the wheel and offset.

If they are the type with a separate inside beadlock ring, you might well run into trouble.

But if you run something like the RC4WD deep-dish spoke wheels, they not only lack that ring but also have the right offset to be no problem.

Post up what wheels you are considering.

A wider hex can be used to help clear the knuckle.

Also - based on the image below of the SCX10.3 straight axle, they don't have a really protruding knuckle:

Fwiw I mounted stock element 1.55’s on ar45 straight axles without issue.

AR45 straight, stock hex, fitted with the OE plastic 1.55 beadlock from an Element Knightrunner. Fits just fine.
