| Base camp builders kit vs RTR
Hi guys, looking at building my next kit, a naturally came across the base camp and like the idea of building this kit. However, looking at the RTR version with portals for only 120$ more, it makes the kit looks like a terrible idea. To me, building is really part of the hobby, but the RTR seems to be such a better value, even buying it and replace the motor/esc would be probably way cheaper than building the kit. Yes, i like the straight axle of the kit better but for my trail/crawling usage, lets be honest the RTR would probably be just fine. So, do you guys think the kit worth it? Let me know what you think. |

I bought a base camp RTR and was happy with it considering. I ended up with too many portal rigs and tried to sell it but didn’t have much luck without giving it away. Ultimately I sold the axles and put straight axles on it for the time being. If both were available when I bought the rtr, I would have opted for the kit because I like building kits, and I typically prefer straight axles. Plus I like that the dig option is included with the kit. Basecamp take off bodies can be had on eBay for a decent price, and that’s probably the route I would have gone. Either way I don’t think you can go wrong Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk | |

Im sure both options are good yes. I may wait until theres a good deal on the kit just because i also like building my rigs. At MSRP i would probably take the RTR version and replace the motor/esc. |

I'm with ya on building a kit is way more fun than just buying a RTR. For the price, you can buy the RTR, strip the parts you want to replace. Sell them, and put what you want in it. You'll likely come out a head.

Kit all the way. Then you know it's put together correctly.
