I have a lot of on-road gear just sitting around, LRP, Citrix, Tekin-rs, brushless esc's and various motor winds from 13.5 to 21.5's. I was thinking of swapping out the stock stuff for an LRP-SPX and a 17.5, running with 2s batteries since I have a ton of them.

More interested in go fast/trail running than crawling with this Wraith. Would consider changing to 32 pitch tranny gears for strength...how does this compare to the stock motor? I haven't seen any mention of these motors or esc's...hate to spend more money on this to get "crawler" specific running gear when I have this sitting around.

thanks in advance...

Problem with brusless is cogging unless you go sensored. For bashing it s not a big problem but for crawling it s a problem.
It really depends of what you want to do with your wraith. For me, it s trail and some light crawling, stock ESC and integy 45 turn so not expensive...30$.

It's definitely sensored....and I'd rather spend the money on stuff I don't have.
Want to go fast with it...rock racing...

It's covered in the ESC section of this thread. Did you read that yet? It says if you want to run 3s you need a BEC.

There is a handwound and a machine wound. Handwound has better power.

Harley what are your thoughts on running the Novak Goat 2s system in the Wraith? I basically use it for trails but it will se a bit of crawling. You've alway pointed me in the right direction before. Only reason I ask for the Wraith is I have one sitting on the shelf and would like to see it gat some use.

Not a fan of the Novak stuff but that is mostly in comp rigs. It will likely work fine in the Wraith. I just don't like their drag brake programming.

MikeyBike 10-01-2011 08:37 PM

Seems you are in the same lines as me. I started out with them but like you said, not a fan of the drag brake that is not a drag brake. I like the motor just hate the ESC. Just wanted your opinion, thanks.

Thanks for the run down. I'm new to crawling and it's a much different setup when you slow down.

Harley I saw were somebody else had said something about this in here but didn't see anything saying when. Have you heard anything on the release of Axials universal joint front shafts yet? I am hoping they are alot stronger than the xvd's I tried and made it for all of 2 min which are advertised as much stronger than stock:shock:. I went back to my second set of dog bones for now but at least I get some run time out of them."thumbsup"

They were released last week. You just have to find a place that has them in stock still

Mine will be here this week hopefully!

Ok well maybe mine will be here this week then. I ordered them but they say out of stock everywhere so I figured it was like a pre order thing on them. Thanks"thumbsup"

Note: None of these diagrams show the stock lighting controller. It only requires a 4-6v power supply so any open port will work or you can direct wire it off your BEC (as long as you are running appropriate voltage) or your ESC's red RX wire.

Standard stock setup WITH BEC.
Note that you need to pull the red wire out of the plug from the ESC so that you do not burn up the internal BEC in the ESC. Just pull it back and tape it, you will need to be able to reconnect it to program it via a Castle link or Hotwire if your ESC is compatible with that (stock ESC can use a Castle link).

A typical 2 servo system.

That's awesome that you can use the castle link with the stock esc. Is anything different on programming the stock esc verus a castle or Holmes?

I believe the Mamba Max Pro fits right in the holder. A Holmes 35 motor is a great choice "thumbsup"

Yes and no, the clips don't snap in. The mmp fan shroud is the biggest obstacle.
