Excellent info, thanks to whoever recorded that video. I've been trying to figure out what the RC4WD AX2 transmission would do to my speeds, since it has such a wide gear range. The AX2's gear range is 283%, just like the Traxxas Summit, but the Wraith doesn't have unlockable diffs to improve handling at higher speeds, and so it seemed rather pointless to have such a wide gear range on the Wraith. However, when I calculate the effects of such a wide gear range on the Wraith, assuming I want to keep the stock top speed of ~12mph on 2S LiPo (it's plenty fast out-of-the-box, as far as I'm concerned), it looks like the speed in low gear would be ~4mph. It sounds slow, but it's still a fast walking pace, and probably faster than I can really drive through underbrush anyway. Driving through underbrush is the only time the motor on my Wraith ever overheats (I'm sick of melting endbells), so that's my motivation for wanting to upgrade the transmission in the first place. This thread was very helpful for me to make a decision. Looks like I'll be getting an AX2 sometime in the near future. Last edited by fyrstormer; 01-05-2015 at 03:44 PM. |
