im running this setup.im running mine with 87/18 gearing, which for me work's good.im more into crawling, but also like to go fast.the temps stay some what on the cool side.my only draw back is the 18.5 ballistic needs a better drag brake.

Which would yield lower operating temps? I would assume less voltage (2s) would run cooler, am I correct?

with higher voltage you put less current to it so you get cooler temps.

Any thing above 35c would work.thunder power makes good batterys.good prices..maxamps makes the best batterys,100% waterproof,3 year warrenty.true 50c rating.but it comes at a higher price.mah would come down to how much room you have to fit batterys in your truck.I run two 3 cell 2000mah in parrelle.and I fit them on top of my rock spiders.
