Default Ultimate Crawler Setup?

Well going to start ordering parts for my build. Going to go with a crawler rather than a racer. I have a Mamba Max Pro in my Mini E-Revo that I could CANN to my Wraith but I don't think that would be a good ESC for crawling and deffinetly with the motor I have for it 6900kv, the mini can go almost 90mph on it with a 4s lipo. I have a stock Axial 27t from my AX-10 that I can swap in for the time being, but I know that won't be slow enough. I know Harley recamends CrawlMaster Pro 540. I know there is alot of info from what I have searched, but nothing stating prime for the Wraith and such. Cost is not a major issue, as I feel do it right the first time!

What I'm thinking is:
CrawlMaster Pro 540 (32t) -- Now looking and looks like a 20t crawlmaster is about same as 35t torquemaster? can anyone confirm? which would be better?
Holmes Hobbies TorqueMaster BR-XL or Castle Creations MMP
ZIPPY Flightmax 5000mAh 2S1P 20C
87T/15T or 20T Gears? Have no clue in this area.

Mine is built to be a crawler not a racer, but there is no "ultimate" setup. Here is some info that will improve crawlability:

Being the most capable crawler often times require wheel speed. A 16t Crawlmaster would be a better motor. Gear it around 87/18 and you'll have decent control and wheel speed.

Putting under drive gears in the rear will help further.

Going to the R35 Ripsaws would be a great move.

That battery is not a great choice if you are going for capability. You want something smaller and likely 3s. Then relocate it under the hood.

You will need weight in the wheel.

4WS is a big advantage.

MIP driveshafts will likely be needed as well as upgraded transmission gears.

Upgrade knuckles and C's as well as steering and suspension linkages.

Lower the ground clearance, shorter shocks are a good idea. Proline Powerstroke Front shocks for the Slash work well.

thanks for the info harley, you are always quick to respond. Well I'll probally go for motor first thing along with gears then electronics. debating between crawlmaster and torquemaster right now.

would Zippy Flightmax 2100mAh 3S 35C be a better battery? What mAH and C rating should I look for?

The Zippy's seem to be pretty decent but I have been having good luck with the Gen Ace packs lately. 30c or better is a good idea, 2000 mah range is a good balance of run time and weight.

Looking at diagrams there is 3 gears in the tranny, is the 3rd allready metal? I know the Hot Racing tranny gears come with 3.

Ok, here is what I have on my shopping list from RPP..

Robinson Racing Hardened Aluminum Diff Gear: AX10
Robinson Racing Hard Steel Idler Gear AX10
Robinson Racing 18T 48P Pinion
Robinson Racing Super Spur 48P 87T AX10

on the spur and pinion, the 48P, is that the correct size? is that width or what does that pertain to the gear?

48p is the pitch of the gear. You have the correct gears listed there.

Another question. Looking at choices of batteries (size and discharge), I found a ZIPPY Flightmax 2200mAh 3S1P 40C. Would having the higher "C" rating benifit me in a crawler setup? or could I get one that is like 15C or 20C and have same results?

Higher C rating is always nice. I would suggest 25C or higher to make sure you always have the power needed.

Just placed an order for the following items to start build:

Robinson Racing Hardened Aluminum Diff Gear: AX10
Robinson Racing Hard Steel Idler Gear AX10
Robinson Racing 18T 48P Pinion
Robinson Racing Super Spur 48P 87T AX10
Axial HEAVY DUTY BEVEL GEAR SET 43T/13T

Next I think I'm going to tackle the steering and suspension and just run my Axial 27t for now.

Here is what I got installed tonight..
Robinson Racing Hardened Aluminum Diff Gear: AX10
Robinson Racing Hard Steel Idler Gear AX10
Robinson Racing 18T 48P Pinion
Robinson Racing Super Spur 48P 87T AX10
Axial 27t Motor (temp motor)

Here is the snag..
Axial HEAVY DUTY BEVEL GEAR SET 43T/13T

The pinion on the stock wraith is a 2 piece, the one about is 1. The shaft on the wraith has a hole, the one above has a flat spot. I tried to drill through to make a hole but no luck. I don't want to just do a set screw (have it installed temp that way) because I think the new design is better/stronger. Any ideas? Thinking of taking it to a machine shop and have them drill it for me.

Here is the parts that I got installed..

Well spent some time working on the light covers.. Also tinted the lens to look like the Hella Black Magic Lights. Here is a photo of the progress. Sprayed clear on them tonight and waiting for the paint to cure on everything for reassembly. Color theme is Star Spangle Blue and Competition Orange.
