Default I hate seeing early broncos chopped up. So I chopped up my Wraith.

Just a bit more trimming and then heating the cage to shape it to fit the back and it'll be perfect. Full interior caged Early Bronco! I'm also swapping out every screw for RCScrewz stainless.

R35s on Mayhem wheels with wide offset so I shouldnt have to narrow the body.

Got full STRC Gunmetal knuckles, c-hubson the way, an aluminum servo horn.

If this turns out as good as I think it may I'll spring for every hopup and keep this sucker for a long time. I think it needs a tail spare tire, full lighting, and a front bumper of some kind.

I've always wanted a CR/CC-01 Bronco/Unimog but knew that they didn't perform worth a damn. I shortened an SCX10 for a Unimog and it worked well, but the short wheelbase performed horribly when climbing over rocks. Backflip central, sure is fun as a trail rig though!

I just can't bring myself to spend so much money on the CR-01 or CC-01 :(

The junfac lizard chassis was sexy though

Ideas and input welcome!

Edit: All finished and buttoned up. No rubbing so far after a quick run around the yard and up the curbs outside.

Take a deep breath then lower the suspension and trim the body as needed.

How about some body off shots to show exactly what you did to the frame?
Are you leaving it a full body or chopping it?

No trimming hopefully. The offset of the wheels makes it REALLY wide. If anything hits body it'll be axle.

I have my SCX10 shocks here ready.

Front I only cut off the supports for the V shaped bumper, Then you end up with a perfect shaped cage for the front of the bronco body. Full body. I've always wanted a CR01, never wanted the performance ;)

No. Like I said I learned that lesson with my SCX10. All shortening does is cause flipping on steep inclines and climbing rocks. I honestly think the only reason the CR-01 series are only popular because of the bodies and die hard tamiya fans. But they just flip everywhere.

Keeping the axle out front like a one ton.

Rear is pretty close.

Added some VP steering linkage and gunmetal STRC C-Hubs and Knuckles. May add more of their stuff after I paint the body and see how it all looks.

Also did some further cutting in the rear and cut out some battery tray support stuff. I added a 55mm link between the shock towers to tie the frame together at the shocks. Its super solid. I have one for the front as well.

I left the lower frame tubes for bumper usage later or expansion. I'd like to link them to the shock towers as well.
Shell just sitting on the cage, perfect fit really!

SHocks and paint next.

it is looking good. one question: will you have body posts like a short course truck or are you going to screw the body on. I am wondering how you are going to access the electrical items like battery and receiver.

I made a total of 4 cuts. Not much at all. And they were nonstructural too. Cut away!

Velcro to the hood cage and roof cage. Plenty of grip. The battery is accessed through the front driver fenderwell. I ran a battery extension and relocated the ESC to the rear. Velco also allows easy body adjustments!

Ever since I saw cut broncos on wraiths I didnt like the 20 foot long bronco. The EB were shortbase. So it didnt really make sense. You dont see EBs like those in real world either. Narrowed sure, but not lengthened.....

Some updates. Just got finished peeling off the outer wrap and scraping off the liquid Mask and paper mask. This is VERY rough.

Also mounted the SCX10 shocks. WAY too low. Going back to the stock wraith, or may order something....

The cage came out looking fantastic inside the full body.

Servo in way at this height.

It's monster truck-ish looking to me....reminds me of how all the traxxas and other brand monster trucks look.

I dunno....it's probably just me....but I really like for my rigs wheelbases and widths to match as much as possible.

That's the thing about the Wraith that I found to be most appealing....the fact that they were trying to make it look pretty scale.

To each his own though...and if it works for you that's all that really matters anyways !

I'd like to see some of the pics that show what you did to the cage/chassis though....I'm just curious.

But your pics aren't workin for me either.....most of them are just the black square with the white - sign in the middle of em !
