| tekin pro4 gearing
Hi, i'm Angelo from Italy, enough far from you in U.SA. but i read every day this forum and after some extreme crawling with my XR i decided to buy a wraith and i have to say that i 'm very satisfied with some little modifications.. my friend order for me this combo : MMP with tekin pro4 3300kv.. my question is : what's a good gearing for this set up to have wheel speed and to be able to run some scaler/crawler courses? 14/56 could be..? now i run goat 3s, 18.5 ballistic( 12.5 rotor), 20t pinion on 3s thanks to all |

14/56 would be a good start, or even smaller on the pinion. If you are using 48p gears then I would suggest 14/80 for 3s use. You will have a hard time overheating the motor, you will have more worries about trashing the drivetrain.

i read also that tekin says that this motor needs a lot of amps and they suggest Rx8 but i think that ckecking temperatures there are no problems with MMP or not? MMP is rating for 100A continuous?

The MMP will be fine until you start going over 40mph. The motors are very amp hungry and low inductance, use a good battery. |

I run 14/56 32 pitch on my 3300kv Pro4 on 3s and am very happy with it.

Hi, I'm running 58/9 32p gears with my Castle 4 Pole 3800kv motor. It's so smooth it's hard to tell that it is not sensored. I use 3s and 4s lipo and it is tons of fun. 58t spur is from Jato and the pinion is a traxxas 9t 32p I show the starting and slow drivin smootheness towards the end of the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-iuN8m1KVY |

I run a 3s 2600mah 30c pack and can tell it wants more. Also run a 4s 1750mah 45c pack and it seems ok. So I'd say any thing that can deliver minimum 75 amps continuous. Last edited by skid; 10-27-2011 at 05:12 PM.

12/58 gearing for me with an RS Pro and 3s 2200 45c battery. Best setup so far. 14/56 was just a little too fast and didn't have the bottom end control that I like.

I have a MMP with a 3300Kv Pro 4. I'm running 14/56 on 2s and 3s. OMG this is too much fun.When running 2S I can hammer hard for a whole 5000Mah 40C pack and temps are running around 98* to 105*. Running 3s 5450Mah 50C adds around 20* to the temps.

| For what I do, 12 tooth pinion and trail runs, the motor only gets warm. I very rarely use full throttle, and for only about 3 seconds when I do. If your always doing speed runs or getting into a lot of binds, the temp may come up. Like you said, Tekin doesn't recommend 4s, so try at your own risk.

13/56 32p is perfect for me. Awesome lowspeed/decent top end.

| Personally - Dont think its needed. If you wanted more speed you could throw teeth at it and be fine IMO. 3,300 just provides that awesome lowspeed torque/no cogging..Everytime i take it out people are blown away its not brushed. |

I just got some in for stock. I was actually quite surprised at how weak the cog force was. I didn't get a chance to check the magnets or airgap, but they are certainly free spinning compared to a Neu/ Castle four pole. If the magnets check out the same strength and the airgap is the same then the tooth shape will be the culprit.
