Default Using Revo Pushrods as Suspension Links

I was asked about these in a post I made, so here is how I made it work.

The push rods that you need are # TRA5318 and you will need 4 packages. You will also need 1 package of Jato rod ends # TRA5525.

You will first need to replace 1 short rod end of each push rod with a longer Jato rod end.

In order to bend the upper link, I used my brake line bender. You can see in the photo that I butted the short rod end up with the edge of the rotating part of the bender. I bent the push rod until the long rod end hit the upper part of the bender that holds the brake line down. If you have a different style bender, the bend is ~30 degrees after it springs back.

Here is one of each of the finished links.

Here they are on the truck.

Are they the same length as the stock links?

If you use the rod ends that I listed they are very close in length. I have my uppers threaded all the way in, and my lowers are just a turn or two out.

Also, the bending is done with the rod ends threaded all the way in.

are your lower links just straight? did you use bent rod ends on them? i would think that IF they were straight with straight ends you would get some binding of the links during articulation.

I made straight lower links for mine, no binding at all.

I am running the links straight and I don't notice any binding in the links. The rod ends slightly rub on the skidplate but not enough to cause issue. I rotated the ends to get rid of the rubbing through most of the travel. To totaly eliminate the rubbing, you can just file a little bit on the skidplate.

There appears to be a couple different lengths of Revo pushrods, do you happen to know which length you used?

Thanks,
~Chip

I used the Traxxas 5319 Black Steel for my lower. They are a drop in fit!
For the uppers I used your Idea! Awsome! Thanks for a cheap & easy up-grade! My wheel base is 14"

Just so you know the chrome ones are brittle where the the threads end. I have had much better luck with the black steel ones, but they rust.

Great find.

They also make the same links in aluminum. But if you do bend them, they can snap pretty easily. I have used the aluminum ones, in varying lengths on numerous rigs.

Hey guys I know this is an OLD thread but Im new and looking to do this up grade! My question is can I use both rod types or just one or the other? #tra5319(139mm) lowers and uppers? Or a combination, #tra5319 as lowers and the #tra5318(102mm) as uppers? They are different length and wanted to make sure once I bend them they will fit correctly?

Thanks for knowledge!
