I would disagree. Grab universals, the dog bones popping out are the cause of most broken knuckles.

Links are what broke first on mine.

If you have the RTR Wraith, I say make your own links out of 8-32 threaded rod and 1/4" brake line with jato rod ends, or use Revo pushrods like this guy.

Will those work with STRC knuckles and C hubs?

OntarioCrawler 11-15-2011 02:27 PM

universals. The kit wraiths never break, the RTR's do all the time. ive yet to have a problem with mine, other then smapping a hex wheel pin.

Or the is it knuckles and steering links flexing enough to allow the dogbones to pop out? Chicken or the egg? My 2nd set of bones still live after knuckle, chub and steering link upgrade.

Not really, the knuckles can still steer further than the dog bones allow. So if you don't do universals then you'll still oversteer and break dog bones.

Your experience, not mine. "thumbsup" The flexy tierod can still allow massive toe in beyond the universals limits. All needs replaced for durability in my eyes.

You'd be surprised what a stock, rtr wraith will go through with JUST universal's.. I agree with Harley on this one. Universal's.

The difference is the when a dog bone oversteers it puts a large force on the C and knuckle by coming out of the cup and pressing on the opposite side. Causing the hole on the top of the knuckle to brake most commonly. If knuckles are replaced, it's a toss up between breaking a C or a dog bone. If you're only spending $50 the universals are likely to keep you running longer without breakage.

Thanks for all the info guys!

I am assuming they will?

I've gotta agree with Harley. I replaced the C-Hubs and knuckles first, tie rod drag link second, and still had dogbone issues. The universals were out of stock everywhere for a while, so I couldn't get my hands on them for a while.
When I finally got them, most of the problems stopped. much better steering control, zero problems with the front end since

second thing to buy delrin rounnd. at a manufacturing shop. packageof jato rod ends and some allthread or screws. delrin is cheap. can be shaped into steering stuff or sus. links.

I would go a much much different way. Delrin is alright but way to flexible for long links. Not as much as the stockers but I don't like to use them for links any more. Also, I always skip using Jato ends when I can. They break much easier then a shorter Revo end.

I would go with 8-32 all-thread, Stainless tubing and Revo ends when making homemade links.

lamar2626 11-16-2011 12:14 AM

You have to remove one of the link mount screws on each side of the axle tubes.
