| NOVAK brushless CRAWLER ??
I know that some of you dont rate the Novak Goat crawler brushless ESC and motor, But I have been offered a 18.5t one very cheap, Can anyone tell me if it will be any faster than the stock wraith 20t ? Last edited by drzjohn; 11-17-2011 at 02:34 PM. |

It will be faster then the 20t, but it all depends on what gearing your running. Also, brushless motors may cog at slow speeds, brushed motors will have almost no cog. If you didn't know already, you will need a sensored ESC to handle the novak crawling motors, I would suggest the Mamba Max Pro. |

Speed should be about the same probably. Drag brake is what sucks on the ESC's. I still have one of the setup in another rig and don't ever drive it because it pisses me off whenever I drive it. If its super cheap, like $50 I might get it. But I wouldn't pay $100 for it. |

i'm running the 18.5t novak brushless sensored motor in my wraith. i have it paired with a mmp and 18/87 gearing. it is exactly what i wanted!! it is a tad slower than the stock 20t motor, BUT i have geared it lower than stock. it has extreme punch when you hit the throttle. the drag brake is different tho. when you let off the gas (neutral) the truck STOPS! doesn't matter what angle your on really, it will stop dead in its tracks. the problem is going downhill. as soon as you give any throttle, the truck will freewheel down the hill. the trick is to lightly give gas and let off. this will allow the truck to move downhill, and when you go to neutral the truck will stop. there really is NO creeping downhills. as for low speed crawlability, it's excellent. quick bursts to jump gaps its perfect. wheelspeed to climb loose hills is perfect. |
