Read the motor sticky at the top of the forum. The VXL ESC is not a good choice for the Wraith. If you want brushless you really need a sensored ESC.

I have yet to see a Novak product I like. I need to run their new Timbuk 2 to see if the drag brake is changed. Stay with a Mamba Max or Tekin ESC.

Read the motor sticky at the top of the forum. A 55t is going to be very slow but will work just fine. I would suggest either a 35t or 27t if you want brushed.

Traxxas introduced me into RC cars. I love the VXL for its simplicity, cool temps and price. I would not use the esc for this application. While it may be good for top speed it lacks a drag brake and does not let you customize your esc like a Castle or Tekin. The VXL esc does allow for a sensored motor but drag brake and other features should be an option as well.

VXL ESC. is sensorored or sensoless. No drag brakes though. Save your time and get the Holmes 13 turn Crawlmaster. I finally did. Its a little slower than a 13.5 Tekin. But about the same torque and has alot better Drag Brakes. Not to mention there is no sensor to get wet. The VXL will work with sensored but since there is no drag brakes. You wont be happy.

X2, I swore off Novak several years ago after a really bad experience with burnt up Rooster and severe lack of customer service.

Yes and it will overheat and thermally shutdown all the time on 3s, and if you live in a warm/hot climate even 2s and hard bashing will thermal it sometimes especially running 5000mah lipos ime.

Those HH 13T Crawlmaster sound really intersting....anybody have vid of this motor in Wraith with 2s or 3s lipo? How would you compare the speed and crawler ability compared to the stock RTR setup?
