| Servo for Axial dig unit
Hello, What would be a good servo to use on Axial dig unit? I thought I read that it had to be a mini servo, but not sure how much torque the dig unit needs. Thanks for info!!! Sent from my iPhone using Forum Runner |

I'm just using the stock steering servo. Seems to work so far.

I use the High Tec 645mg on my digs. I have messed with the mini servos but like the 645 better. If I was going to use a mini i'd choose the 85mg

4 wheel steer is more useful and fun on a trail rig. IMO dig serves a better purpose for crawling. i am going to be using both on my wraith just to fill some channels on my tx/rx

The main thing that holds me back from 4WS, is the fact of having to mount the servo on the diff housing. I installed a VP CMS & panhard kit on my Wraith, and I'm loving them both. Now, if someone (mainly VP) would produce a rear CMS kit for the Wraith, I would definitely have 4WS. I'm going to wait and see if this happens, or maybe see what I can "engineer" to be able to mount the rear servo on the chassis. I agree that 4WS is probably a lot more fun on the Wraith, than a dig unit. For the time being, I would like to try out the dig and see how I like it. |

I found that it comes down to what comps allow you to have. For bashing I would do both. But do one first and get used to that. Then move on. On my wraith I have the dig and I love it. At first I was using it too much. I got tired of it. Then came the winch and same thing. Now I don't use them as much and can do a bunch more stuff I thought I would need one if those things for. The part that sucks is waiting for a comp to come up for the wraith. But I ended up using a traxxas servo laying around my bench. I don't like using mini servos for dig due to the short life span they have. They are very temperamental. The wraith has all the hardware for both size servos. Hope I helped.

I have actually found having the rear wheels free wheel while running on trails more use full than with locking the rear wheels while crawling. I would use a standard sized servo so you won't be replacing mini-servos on a regular basis.
