Default Wraith CMS Question..?

So I'm looking into getting a cms kit for my wraith I do none of the go fast off road stuff with it its just a rock crawler, that being said vanquish and level-3 have a kit with and without a panhard, why is it needed the upper and lower links keep the axle in place just fine. I'm looking at either or, thanks for the advice in advance guys.

You need to understand how a 3 link w/ panhard bar suspension works.

Search "CMS" in this section (titles only) and do some reading.

I know that you dont know

A panhard is'nt needed with the 4 link when the servo is on the axle.

But, the 4 link will cause bump steer if you put the servo in the chassis.

By using a 3 link w/panhard you allow the axle to travel at an arc that matches the drag link. Thus removing bump steer..

If you put the servo in the chassis you need to 3 link the front and use a panhard. Your idea of using the 4 link and CMS will cause bump steer.

You will definitely be dealing with bump steer issues. Also, when you steer to the right, it will cause the suspension on the right front corner of the truck to compress. When the servo is mounted higher up on the chassis, the servo is now pulling the drag link in an upward (and to the left) motion. This causes the right front corner to compress.

Running all 4 links with a CMS and panhard will cause the suspension to bind.

So, either leave the servo on the axle, or run a CMS, 3-link, & panhard setup.

definitely the answer i was looking for, but why would a company offer just the cms? or panhard bar separate? is all i wanted to know. does it matter where the panhard is mounted as far as length from the frame to the axle? i have a boat load of links and rod ends i can possibly make my own

A CMS offers nothing but a scale look. If you are that concerned with bump steer and actual PERFORMANCE, then stick with an axle mounted servo.

My two cents.

Yeah vanquish makes incision servo armor. I'm not good at posting links like some folks on here... A quick google for "vanquish products incision servo armor" ought to net you the results you need!

I'm personally very adverse to a CMS/panhard set up. I understand guys wanna have that scale steering box look but it seems like such a sacrifice in the performance department.

id rather have the lateral torque of my servo actually moving the tires laterally not turning a bent arm to turn the wheels just my o.c.d. kicking in, id rather have the steering links parallel to eachother

is this the armor? i ask because what destroys my servos is the arm coming in contact with rocks, does anyone have this armor in a pic already mounted up?

If done right, there is minimal to no difference in performance vs. axle mounted steering. Some prefer the look of an axle without a servo sitting on it.

I agree that vp broke up the cms/panhard kit in a weird way. Would be nice to get the axle panhard mount for those of us using just the axles, and get the 2 chassis mount pieces together.

The panhard needs to be the same length and angle as the drag link to minimize bump steer.

Are you trying to avoid scratching the servo case or damaging the gears?
