| 3racing winch wiring Q's
to install my 3racing winch it said it needs a 6v battery. i run a 3s lips, so to not run another whole battery i wired my bec directly to the servo using harleys wiring guide and also spliced the battery wires from the winch into that. i believe the bec is 7.4v but i am not 100%. is there any reason this wont work? this is still new territory to me, when i put the bec in i just pluged it into the extra port on the receiver and pulled the red off the esc. i am going to solder it tomorrow unless some one thinks it a bad idea. ps- i cant test it cause my rx receiver broke and the 4pl isnt here until mid next week. thanks chris |

I run a 2s 250mah battery from Flysky there super cheap and easy to get at the LHS. These batteries have enough to pull you out and are small enough to hide easily. I velcroed the controller to the battery to make it removable from the car to operate.

For my 3racing winch I just swapped the controller with a small and cheap ESC from HPI running the winch directly on 3S. Maybe it's overkill to use that ESC but thats what I got in my leftover pile. I'm pretty happy how it turned out. Before powered from 5,2V out of the BEC it couldn't even pulle the front wheels off the ground, now it pulls the whole 9lbs truck off the ground! I found several really small ESC on ebay which can handle 3S lipo. No airplane/helicopter ESC are good here due to the lack of reverse.

guess i should have updated this: i ended up buying a controller from HeyOK on here and it has worked awesome. it plugs right into the reciver, no extra battery needed. |

I wired mine up as follows. BTW - the instructions for the Winch say 6-cell (7.2V), not 6V. So a BEC at 7.4V shouldn't be a problem since a fully charged 6-cell pack will actually be higher than that. Last edited by sporkfu; 08-31-2012 at 10:10 AM. |

The only thing I see not needed in that diagram is you don't need both esc & winch controller feeding voltage(red wire) to the receiver. One or the other is enough. |

I know,I'm just saying both are not needed. I won't hurt having it connected. Just trying to give a little info. L8R, Ron |
