Default Ridgecrest to Wraith Conversion

Hello and Welcome.

So a couple months back I started looking at crawlers and decided to pickup the new Ridgecrest to give it a shoot. During that time I picked up some wheels and tires while playing around with the gears to get some more speed out of her.

Ended up getting the Traxxas Velineon system that really gave me the speed that I was looking for. However, this didn't satisfy the looks of the truck.

After looking at the forums I really started to like the looks of the Wraith. And the search begins. Been on many sites finding the correct parts that are needed for the conversion.

I was able to use just about everything but the frame from the Ridgecrest to go from this:

To This:

Now I'm still in the process of the build with many parts on its way.

Hope you enjoy!

Added the Dinky Drop Tub and cut the side panels. Also moved the ESC to the rear for easy access. Plastic Dipped ESC for added protection even if its waterproof.

Looks like you have the AX-10 transmission in there. The rear driveshaft doesn't have much engagement, better keep an eye on that. It'll twist REALLY easy.

Yes thats the AX10 tranny from the Ridgecrest. I am having a problem with the rear driveshaft not being long enough. The HR links that I have are giving me a wheel base of 14.5in where the stock Wraith is 13.5. Thats causing the shortness. I got MIP Wraith shafts in the mail today and I'm switching out the links with the Axial upgrade links on order.

Well today I was able to get some time out on the trails. This thing is a beast!

Lost a couple of screws that I forgot to threadlock but over all it was a great day.

Heres a couple pics from today.

Well I ran into that problem but forgot to post it. The rig was 1 in too long and the MIP's wouldn't matchup. So I picked up a set of the Axial aluminum links.

At this time I have removed all HR products from the rig.

Those tires are crazy good on the trails for bashing. I don't do much crawling but maybe down on the rocks in the creek but they have lasted thats for sure.

Plus you can't beat the price from ckrc

So i picked up a 3 cell Lipo 3300mh 25c.

This thing was so fast I had to put my friends SCT tires on her just to stay on the ground on pavement.

bmhow much longer would the mips have to be for them to work? could you change the rod ends out on the HR links to the shorter axial ones?

Maybe 1/2in. Even with the Axial links the rear mip shaft wobbles a bit. Never tried to change the rod ends on the HR's cause the gold ring that keeps the ball end in fell out of 2 of them.

If I could find a way to allow the rear shaft to push into itself more, it would be a great help cause with all my wheel speed, you can hear it clicking.

I'm done with HR thats for sure.

if you switched to a wraith trans it should fix the driveshaft issue, or you may be able to get a longer input or shaft.

im going to be running the same trans unless i switch.

Does the Ridgecrest trans gears also work in the wraith trans?

I also picked up some HD diff lockers for the new axels today.
