Default Electrotech's Wraith

Here is the newest addition to my lineup. Built the kit, parts so far:

Servo: Hobbico CS-170 (stolen from my XR10 in favor of upgrading the XR10 to a Futaba S9157)
RX: Futaba R203GF 3-channel (may add dig later)
ESC:Castle Mamba Max Pro
BEC: Castle 10A
Motor: 35T Tekin Heavy Duty (Spare motor I had, I'm waiting for the Tekin 412 ROC brushless motors to come out, or I may just get the Pro4 3300kv)
Wheels: Axial Rockstar 2.2 Beadlocks with R35 Ripsaws
Spur Gear: Robinson Racing 87T super spur (Stock pinion so 87/20 gearing)

Paint didn't come out exactly as I hoped. I masked out a silver stripe between the black and red but the masking tape sucked and the red bled under the tape so I just pulled the tape and sprayed all red.

Tons of upgrades planned, just don't have deep enough pockets yet.

So onto my first planned upgrade, Links, I'm thinking titanium with 4mm Revo ends, so thats either BMRC or Vanquish. Can't go wrong with either?

Couple shots in the basement build area.

First run out I ate up the front diff gears. Lucky the LHS had a set of the HD bevel diff gears. I installed the HD gears and flipped the lower link mounts around to lower it down some.

First upgrade Vanquish Drag and steering link. I had a problem getting the steering link to fit. It was hitting the diff cover and not allowing full steering. I mounted everything the way it's shown on Vanquishes website and it just doesn't clear the diff cover. I was playing around with the mounting and found a solution that I am quite pleased with. I mounted the steering link on top of the knuckles and the drag link below the steering on the right side so the steering link rides behind the servo horn and above the diff. With this set-up now the limiting factor in the steering is hitting the lower links and of course I don't think the universals can go much further. Added benefit it's all up higher and more clearance now.

Well done on the steering!! That's a great idea. I have the vanquish steering as well and ground down the diff cover to free the steering issue but I gotta say I like your fix much more. I'll have to take a look at doing the same.

I've added a few mods and haven't updated in a while. She now has a MMP pushing a Pro4 3300kV, MIP driveshafts, Robinson Racing trans gears, Vanquish Lockers, Vanquish Links, and Axial HD gears front and underdrive HD gears out back. Steering upgraded to Vanquish CMS and Panhard link.

Anyways, I'm now getting slippage and grinding from the stock ratio Front HD hardened diff gears. I need to replace the gears and was thinking about going with the overdrive gears in the front. I have underdrive in the back and with the Pro4 just wondering if I shouldn't change the ratio that much.

Got a goodie box today, RPP rocks, after I ordered 11 minutes got shipping info on my door 3 days later from Cali to Ohio, and one of those days was Thanksgiving.

Front Axle built! Transmission is underway, still waiting on supershafty 6mm outputs and 6mm Revo MIP Hubs to finish the trans. I was going to go Vanquish Trans housing but I'm going to try the AX10 plastic housing for a while for the COG savings and see how it holds up.

Covers are nice, good machine work. They match the profile of the low profile axial covers so pretty good on clearance. I'ge only done the front so far. When I get to the rear it will tell the tale with the larger under drive bevel gear, should still fit though.

Got the trans put together last night. Axial HD motor plate, all RR hardened gears, GearScience Gear Jelly, supershafty 6mm outputs, and 6mm Revo MIP hubs. Spur is a 32p 56t Duratrax Evader Spur, and Axial 12t pinion for the 5mm output shaft of the Pro4.

Got the rest of the build done. Rear axle completed, wheels and tires, and a few other odds and ends.

So as it sits right now I'm finished upgrading and will only go further if I break something. Hopefully I built it enough to survive the power of the Pro4 and the only thing I have concerns with are the axial universals, may need to get the vanquish VVDs.

Completed Parts list:

Tekin Pro4 3300kV
Mamba Max Pro
Castle BEC
Futaba S9157
Axial HD Motor Plate
VP AX10 Trans Case
32p Spur/Pinion 56/12
Robinson Racing Idler and Diff gears
Super Shafty 6mm Outputs
MIP Drive Shafts w 6mm Revo ends on trans
Axial HD front and Under drive rear bevel gears
VP Lockers
STRC Bearing Caps
Axial Universals
VP Axle Housings
RC4WD Poison Spider Diff Covers
VP Link Mounts
VP Axle Trusses
VP Knuckles, C-Hubs, and Lockouts
VP 1/4" Titanium lower Links
VP 3/16" Titanium Upper Links
VP Steering and drag links
VP CMS and Panhard
Blue Monkey Knuckle Weights
VP SLW v3 1" wheels
RC4WD Irok 2.2 tires
