Default First post, wraith pics and question

http://i364.photobucket.com/albums/o...ps70a2aab3.jpg
Hello. What would cause all of a sudden to lose my low end power, it doesnt take off very fast and it wont climb anything., but once it gets going its just like it always was. Up until now I have been very happy with this rig. It has a Brxl and torquemaster expert 27t, and a few other upgrades. Running 2s and 3s. I have used a few different motors but always changed them out before they were toasted, so I dont know if this is a symptom of motor going out or what. Great forum you have here, proud be be joining it.

I'm in exactly the same boat. Rig seemed ok except dropped power overall for no apparent reason. I also know nothing about these things, but suspected the motor probably just needed maintenance after looking at gear issues and a few other things. After putting it off for a long time I finally looked into it, searched youtube and google, found this video How To Rebuild A Brushed RC Motor - YouTube which made me felt pretty confident it wasn't too difficult a job. Took the motor to the local hobby shop this morning and they checked the brushes and showed me that they were half down, could use some cleaning with ultra-fine sandpaper, and perhaps a shim behind the brush retaining spring to keep tension up. I'm also going to clean the comm and lube bearings etc...hoping that does the trick. Looking forward to digging in and crossing fingers for good results. Good luck with yours!

that will kill most any brushed motor, unless you only run 1/2 throttle or less.Try atleast 5.5 to 1 gear ratio.Check motor temps, run light springs and stay off full throttle.I dont know people can run them and keep motors in them.

That's why this stuff is so confusing. I thought that was same as stock ratio, and would be fine.

It's unfortunate that Axial geared them so high from the factory because now so many people think that gear ratio is fine when in fact it's really high.

I'd go to like 56/11 at the highest, and see how it goes.

That is stock gear ratio, but its to high for the wraith. What do you use it for?Crawling or bashing?I got mine for more of a rock racer and toasted a HH 27t pro in two hours runnig 80/20.Geared it down to 6 to 1 and hated it but lasted a year on a new 27t HH.Alot of the guys around here run the MMP/Pro4 combo. It is an amazing truck then,I know its alot of money but I have gone through around $150 or more on motors, armutures and brushes. The combo is $250 and i have spent all most that much now.I think BRUSHLESS is the only way to go in the Wraith.

I didn't gear that way because of the fact that was the stock ratio, it's because in some other posts, like in the beginners guide, it said it was fine. I will get a new motor and change the gearing. I use it for a combo of crawling when I'm in my crawling place and just bashing around when there is nowhere to crawl. I appreciate everyone's input.

I don't really need this truck to be very fast. I have a losi comp crawler for more serious crawling and an Exo terra for more serious bashing so I wanted the wraith to be a good in between go to rig. I thought it was set up good until this problem but I guess I have more experience needed. Thanks.

Ive tried three different motors now and they all do the same thing, just no low take off power or torque to climb things that i was formerly easily able to climb. Could it be my esc, or tranny gears getting bad? i have no clue here guys.

If it was gears you should hear something.Does every thing spin freely.did you check setting on esc.Are you sure battery is good.Did you check your slipper clutch, the nut can loosen and cause it to slip under load.Let me know what happens.

The slipper is part of the spur gear which is the big gear on trans. There is a nut with a spring tighten it all the way than back off one full turn. You can check it by turning everything on grab a wheel and give a little throttle it will turn motor but not wheels and make a little zip sound. If its tight the wheel will pull out of your hand.
