Default AR60 Axle Spool or Locker

I noticed that i have a LOT of play in my rear axle. Even holding the drive shaft i can move the wheel a considerable amount. I am assuming this is coming from the stock locker i have in it. My question is;

Does the Vanquish locker help with this,
Is it part of the design,
Does any one make a spool to elimate the locker and if not why.

I would love to here form anyone on this and i apologize if this has been covered before.

The spool from VP does have set screws, you will tighten down the set screws eliminating the slop of the axles into the locker. Before you get to wild, always make sure that your hex is tightened down and that your pin/wheels are in good shape. The VP unit is very nice and I always recommend it for that extra little sweetness in the rig.

Hope that helps.

I have the HR locker, a very nice piece that bolted right up. Feels solid and strong.

I have Highland lockers in two of my Rigs. Next time I will go with the Vanquish units. EGRESSor makes a really nice product also. I really like the Vanquish design. Probably the best design thus far.

I would also, double check the ring & pinion gears for excessive wear. You may need to shim the pinion to remove some slop.

How is this hr locker, do they hold up good, or do you think the vanquish ones are worth the extra $$, in this hobby if one can get parts that last a year or so and didn't break the budget then its worth it to me. One of our guys here has everything vanquish on his rig and even he says it crawls the same as before he installed the stuff.

I've only had to shim a set of OG AX10 axles myself. Traxxas has some shims with a 5mm hole, for the pinion shaft. Here's a link to a decent read about it. It mentions shimming side to side, I've never done it. I bet with a little reaserch one could find the corrrect shims to do that as well.

Pictures of how to shim a diff..

Also running hr spools live them.

From what I've read the VP lockers are a good part to pass on. There's a hand full of better products on the market

Hr spool
